Do you know the secret behind buying digital movies on platforms like VUDU, Apple, Amazon, Movies Anywhere, and other retailers? Well, you don’t really own any of them!

When i found out that I don't own the content that i have bought online and can get revoked at anytime, is the main thing that put me off streaming and got me into physical media!

Funny thing is I buy physcial for a 4k or a Bluray you usually will also get a blu-ray and dvd disc and on top you also get digital version.

My friend and I are now opposites. 5 years ago his family had a pretty sizeable collection of DVDs while I didn't have a huge collection and relied on streaming and torrenting. Also I had this insecurity feeling that streaming mitigates the fact that I don't have a big collection haha. However recently since 2020 they still have their collection but rely more on streaming while I've just starting collecting more physical media, and while my collection is small I got over that insecurity feeling since I'm just focusing on the stuff I like.

I lost a ton when ultra violet disappeared. After that I went physical and won’t get back. If I get a code included with a physical purchase, I will redeem it, but never count on it. not to mention with the compression sound and picture quality is not there in streaming

All valid points. I do a combination of physical for my favorites and digital when sales are $4.99 on iTunes. I've never had a movie taken away yet, but I'm okay with this trade off, especially with the frequency of sales and still having a nice collection of my favorite titles.

When the internet is down what you gonna do, I open up my room, and pick from 500 plus shows or movies on Discs.

I kinda knew this before, but the reality of it punched me in the gut when Amazon locked me out of my account for false charges and wouldn’t return my access. Thankfully, the Better Business Bureau helped me out. But the feeling of losing so much content was horrible.

I started off with buying digital movies, I was close to almost 50 films then 2 got taken away and I said no more. Found my old dvds and fell in love with them again and then I upgraded to blurays and 4k and haven't looked back. Expensive but fun hobby but love my movies.

I didn't realize how important those digital codes were until I started replacing some of my blu rays, with 4k. I started to "collect" movies on prime and then I started my blu ray and then 4ks. I got the digital collections up to date with almost every purchase and it's great

Facts. I got burned by Apple buying movies from their platform. Ever since then. My movies are strictly physical!
