Actually, it's not the Apple that is misaligned on the artwork (it's on the very same brick both times), it's the text that is misaligned.

Did, The End and Her Majesty predate I Me Mine and Across The Universe? Most Let It Be tracks predated Abbey Road Tracks but I don't think the tracks on side one the Let It Be EP existed when Abbey Road was issued.

The first US pressings of Abbey Road had nearly the same sleeve construction as UK copies. Later ones featured those horrid matte paper paste on covers.
