Great coverage gents, I would ask when you do videos such as these perhaps you could put time stamps in the description section so viewers could jump to sections that interest them the most as well as provide a "table of contents" so viewers know everything you are going to cover. Great work!

Yes please do a video on placing terrain!

Glad to see so many people are balking at the terrain rules, especially the utter nonsense of the faction terrain restrictions.  Very bad direction for them to go, and the unsubtle push to use official GW kits for the other terrain is just an offensively obvious money grab.

I agree with you about the principles, the crazy dice spikes are part of the fun in the game

We never use any terrain rules since it‘s stupid in a bad way if any stick and stone is somehow magical or cursed...

Great review 👍🏻

The impact of some of these changes on Sylvaneth that are heavily linked to their terrain, send to put them at a disadvantage

Play a Meeting Engagement with the semi-random force generation with the cards.

Draw the cards only when you deploy the force so you don't even know what parts of your army will be until turn 1, 2 and 3!

Given how new it is, props to Vito and Chase for their KO v DoK batrep using the meeting engagement rules. Seeing KO getting to take advantage of their well deserved points decreases was awesome!

For the terrain, I love what Luka said, I'm planing into mounting a wargame room at home, but I don't have any terrain, i like that generator because it gives me directions on how to start collecting terrain pieces.

99% of the terrain I use in my games is not GW terrain. I also will be ignoring the "fixed" number and amount of terrain. That is just boring.

Meeting engagement is 100% a tournament thing. In fact they are having a meeting engagement tournament at warhammer world in late July (I think the 21st) to mark the GHB release.

GW shouldn’t have included the restrictions to faction terrain. They only take away from the game. I can’t think of a benefit for it. Think about how bad this hurts sylvaneth. The new forests, even if they only use 3 pieces, are still massive. Absolutely ridiculous rule writing. Management needs to talk to the designer about their future employment with GW. Games Workshop has a nasty habit of adding rules that don’t need to exist. Their games keep getting more and more bloated. I just want a game that’s easy to pick up, play, and not have to reference a book twice in every phase.

To answer your question on terrain: I would probably play games on whatever terrain is available (I just love the game), but I do think having awesome terrain can make or break the game. Luckily I have loads of terrain available myself and I think those terrain pieces are almost just as important as my armies when it comes to playing games. When I play on a beautiful game mat, with a load of convincing awesome terrain on it, it just make me way more happy than playing on an empty mat/table. This kind of creates problems for me when playing WFB, because having lots of terrain is mainly a pain in the ass for WFB, but now we have AoS I can go nuts since both AoS and 40k work perfectly with lots of terrain :).

If only you had time stamps. I care about pitched battle only and have no idea from which point that part starts from.

I wonder if they would do a Meeting Engagements style rules set for 40k? Seems like a great, thematic way of making smaller games more fun

Those new terrain rules re ridiculous. This is a great example of a rule change made without any testing or detailed consideration of impacts.... unless the goal was to remove special army terrain all together and to make the games more boring / uniform. I hope that everyone I ever play wants to ignore these new terrain placing rules as much as I do.

I love terrain. I play at a local shop which has alot of terrain to choose from but I prefer super cinematic terrain. I want it to look cool and also effect strat.

"Up to 3 models, that have 4-5 wounds" "Oh, like a paladins squad for stormcast?"

No...

I've bought a lot of terrain for playing at home, because at the games store they have a large collection of terrain and I learned how to play there with plenty of terrain on the board. So yeah, I own enough terrain to fill a board (all of it is from GW but includes Ruins of Osgiliath). We do use the scenery rules most of the time. But I'm pretty sure we won't be using those scenery placement rules.

I play pretty much exclusively Kill Team (so far) and I will use primed or unpainted terrain, but really only ever when other folks want to. If I have my choice, I won't ever use unpainted terrain unless it kind of "fits" like crates or concrete and the like.
