The 4 Liver Shot Setups that’ll make ‘em Puke

Ever see a fighter keel over from a perfectly placed liver shot? It’s all about the setup — open up their guard and touch that liver using these strategies:

1. Fake The Right (+ Lead Body Hook/Uppercut)
2. Bas Liver Kick (Fake Lead Hook + Left Body Kick)
3. Pin The Guard (Slapping Left Hook + Lead Body Hook/Uppercut)
4. Back Kick (After a Low Kick)

And of course the side kick; apparently they work.

👆We’re announcing the monthly schedule for our NEW live training sessions next week 👆

Join the team. Be a part of it 🙏🥋

I been dropped every other kind of way, but I've never been hit with a proper liver shot. I'm not curious.

I was drunk play fighting with a friend a while back before I got into Muay Thai. He hit me with a left hook to the ribs and dropped me, and I instantly yelled time out. That was how I discovered that the "liver shot" is a thing. Couldn't understand how a body shot could hurt so bad, even a fairly light shot from a little dude.

I've never been hit with a hard liver shot but once I fell inside a pit and hit my liver on a rock... I sat there for an hour felt like Im gonna die.. had abdomen cramp for 3 days... So now I use a lot of liver shots because I know how it feels

Huge fan of the body shot. A slick fighter with good head movement can be slowed down with accurate body shots. The shots if not fight enders will sap the wind and drain the energy as the body tries to deal with them. I have used a combination of body shots on Philly shell fighters and quick twitch fighters. Set up is king as with most punches. The head movement slows after a few land and the hands drop to deal with the pain this leaves opening for head shots. One that was left out is the knee strike. We trained it close in with rotation and thrust just before a clinch or on the break of a clinch. Keeping the knee high enough to land effectively is paramount. Striking hips is less than ideal. One of the most devastating is that heal strike to the liver or lower rib cage. Having that last rib targeted and feeling like it just got broke off and shoved into something vital is a terrible feeling. Thanks for bringing back that memory ugh.
Good stuff as always! Thanks for the refresher.

Never had the joy of experiencing one of these. Two questions:
1. After you 'recover' how close to 100% are you?
2. Does the effect linger, making subsequent liver shots even more effective even if they're not as hard?

My trainer landed the first and clean liver shot on me and I could not breath for 3 seconds (due to pain) even though I tried hard. It was scary not to be able to breathe even though I was standing and put my arms up high standing in the corner of the ring. The body's reaction is not something you can fight against. It's like your body shuts down.

One of my first big recognitions of pain was taking a nicely placed liver shot (fainted front kick turned into a tight ball-of-the-foot round kick) in a karate class.

I learned a good way and always works. Original right stance, switch to left stance against righty, then throw straight cross and rear round kick to side. It happens so fast they get hit with the cross and kick because they expect to get cross, reset then rear kick. But this setup has no reset after the cross.

Actually, Canelo very often swings his rear hand back to create more momentum and hit harder, he doesn't always do it like that but he does leave himself exposed a lot when he throws his hooks but he doesn't get countered because most of the time the opponent is shelling up after feeling his power.

Train with a guy from the Czech Rep. and that guy found my liver so fast. I’ve done body conditioning with tons of people but it took him 2 shots and I was on the ground. Not fun at all

I love how when you make a video it feels like an actual coach is teaching. Idk why, just the feel to it or maybe because there’s 2 of you and you both teach together

Hey, Shane. I'm planning to buy a workout bag for home and I'm torn between 3 things: heavy bag, speed bag and Bob dummy. What's the best one in your opinion considering I have normal and heavy bags at the gym?
