This is a very common mistake, Glenn Greenwald had a long video discussing legal ramifications of this few months ago, please stop repeating the incorrect information. According to Supreme Court's several rulings, it is _illegal_ even for a private company to restrict speech on _government's request, _ even if this "request" has the form of an indirect or non-specific threat of consequences if not obeyed. The most relevant SC ruling regarding this is Bantam Books, Inc. v. Sullivan (1963).
