I find it entertaining when some atheists pick-and-choose what Bible verses to quote to Christians as an attempt to disprove Christianity. The key question is to ask them "did you read the whole chapter before what you concluded from the verse you quoted?", if they're honest they would say no, they just found it in some web like infidels.org, or skeptics annotated bible, etc. So much for an atheist claiming "atheists know the Bible better than christians"! LOL

It can be very frustrating when atheists mock Christians who say that they take verses out of context…but that is exactly what they’re doing! They’re not paying attention to the rest of the chapter or the themes of the book or the culture, they just cherry pick whatever they can find to suit their own views, which is pretty lazy if not dishonest.

When people dont want to focus on studying the issue, instead of just wanting to act as if you're an expert, this is the result. of course we do not have sometimes effort and time to study, but we shouldn't be so stubborn.

When Jesus talks about violence it's usually metaphorical, I don't think anyone takes the verse encouraging people to cut off their hand if it makes them sin literally.

Some old words always get mixed up. Such as the concept of peace comes from pacify which means conflict - > resolution. And so you can't have peace without first having conflict. And you can see war as being conflict that doesn't necessarily have to be with weapons, but rather simply a struggle between two opposing sides. If the struggle is not to be by sword then it would have to be by breeding and conversion.

The "sword" meant either truth or the spirit of truth there. No other reasonable way to take it, since we are commanded elsewhere to arm ourselves with the sword of the spirit of truth, and Jesus explicitly told Pilot that the reason he came to the world was to testify to the truth, besides making it clear to Pilot, as he did elsewhere, that his kingdom was (very unlike say Mohammad's kingdom) not based on worldly conquest.

Atheist are funny creatures they implicitly imply meaning. Religious people explicitly claim meaning. It is all a dispute over what things mean. As if meaning shouldn't be completely subjective to the atheist. No way out of that one.

I don't even consider Jesus' sword as a contradiction, it's a misunderstanding. No one can study Christ's life and teachings, and come away thinking that He encouraged taking up a weapon offensively! It's such balderdash, I'm still gobsmacked when I hear people try to make that claim. I so appreciate your dedication to opening the eyes of all who listen to your videos.
