I did one side this weekend. It’s quite a physical job. At the start there is a lot of jacking position swapping to find the best way. As the vehicle standard pinch line lift point blocks your access when working on the trailing arm it had to be vehicle supported centrally between the back wheels, had the subframe on wooden blocks. So yes quite a physical job by the time you have done all your jacking, pulling the arm down so you can work on it, and using the special press tool was quite difficult from outboard the car, as the press screw it inboard the car. My tips would be; give yourself a lot of time to do this job, you definitely need the special tool - press. Lift you car as high as you’re comfortable doing, you we be spending a lot of time under there. Dreading doing the other side but now I have some experience I know what to expect. It’s not technical in anyway, just physical. A impact wrench was a big help when taking the lower shock bolt out etc.

Guys these threaded studs shown at 3mins. Often they break off. What is the standard way to replace them? Spot weld length of threaded stud back on? Or maybe drill holes and use press in plastic studs. Thanks in advance.

Good video. Was the other side bushings plate bigger?

It’s so weird not seeing axle shafts in the back for a vehicle that suggests “Cross Country.”

I haven’t seen an XC60 that isn’t an AWD here in North American continent.

Nice work, How much time did it take you to complete the job? Did you notice any uneven tyre wear?

Three days ago I took my 2017 Volo XC60 D4 AWD to service at the dealer's workshop here in Sweden, and after they inspected the car, I was told that this same left side bushing needs changing and it would cost what is equal to probably USD550-600, and that both sides should be changed not only the broken one and wheel alignment should be done after the change, now I can see that it is not an easy job. I thought they were asking too much. Also, is it called trailing arm? it's ahead of the wheel and not trailing it, it's called link arm or control arm, that's what they call it here in the motherland of Volvo...
