Escaping Dystopia: Coinbase Pro to Terra Station

UPDATE: UST withdrawals work direct on Osmosis now. So, process is simply ATOM to Osmosis to UST then Withdrawal to Keplr LUNA address (UST will be a token). Then send the UST directly to the Terra Station address. Works great. No need for LUNA step any more.

A short guide on moving small amounts of value between the centralized exchange Coinbase Pro (if you have a Coinbase account, the same credentials work for Coinbase Pro) and the decentralized Terra Station network. Specifically the goal here is to deposit UST in Terra Station starting from Coinbase Pro and avoiding any ETH gas fees.

This is accomplished in under 10 minutes (could be much faster, I'm narrating in realtime) and for under $1.

Generally this will be one of the cheaper routes you can find for amounts under $1,000. When you start to get into mid-four and five figures, the swap fees on Coinbase and Osmosis become more relevant.

why not directly changing atom to UST (instead of LUNA) in osmosis and send this the UST to Terra Station?

Just started doing this about a week ago, too! Nice! But why not just convert ATOM to UST on Osmosis, rather than Luna?

I thought you were going to transfer UST from Coinbase Pro to Terra Station. That is why I was directed here. WTF Atom???

When I try withdrawing LUNA from Osmosis, the transaction gets stuck. It shows as success on mintscan, but pending still on Osmosis. After a while (~30min), the transaction times out on Osmosis and the LUNA is returned. Any idea what's going on?

This is not a good way to get UST from Coinbase into Terra Station. Sure, you save ETH gas fees buy you incur exchange rate risk. If you do this with larger amounts, say 10k, and Cosmos drops by 1% during the process, which can easily happen, you are already down 100 dollars.

Wow thanks for the new on RAMP idea for Terra Statino. I've been a lunatic for many months. Kucoin is starting to suck with 0.1 Luna withdrawal Fees & $4 UST withdraw fees. This might be a game changer for small transfers.
