1. Centralized banking doesn't like competition. (Biggest). Money is power
2. Taxation. The government misses a lot
3. Harder to control people.
4. Decentralized makes it harder to track
5. Gives people a legitimate alternative to working traditional jobs, which reduces income taxes, and independent of the system for their livelihood. Wage slavery is a big foundation to controlling people.
6. Gives people the power to compete in the marketplace. That's unproductive for major financial firms who profit.
7. People don't put money into the stock stock market which is beneficial for the government and financial institutions

Blockchain technology will be utilized by governments in the future, so that's not going anywhere
