Today's workshop will be the first in a series of three that I have scheduled for this week. Today we will be talking about the 6 base crops everyone should be planting for fall and winter gardens. This week's schedule is as follows:
July 12, 2022 - 2:00 pm Mountain - 6 base crops for fall and winter gardening
July 13, 2022 - 2:00 pm Mountain - Choosing the right planting time
July 14, 2022 - 2:00 pm Mountain - Protecting your crops in winter

I’m sure you are wondering why we would be talking about fall and winter gardening in JULY. The reason why is many of you who want to grow spinach over the fall and winter need to get it planted as early as August 1st!

First crookneck? That makes my wife feel good because we have already harvested a few zukes and crooks. She feels bad when she sees posts of people with big harvests while she hasn't yet harvested much. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much for the great info! I’m in Indianapolis Indiana and same zone. Last week I discovered our frost date is now late October. Almanac says October 21st another site says the 27th. I know it might be pushing it on longer harvest dates but have started new summer crops. With these new dates am thinking we might get extended harvests on fall and winter crops too. Have you checked your frost date?

This was awesome!! But question here, I found about 15 potatoes in my daughter's cupboard and are all sprouting beautifully. Do you think I should plant them now, or break the sprouts off? I live in a tropical climate.
