Mickey Chen's parents have been working for decades fighting Chinese social injustice and he himself was part of the effort. He recently purchased a home for his mum and dad and went through their history since moving to the US.

Uncle Roger found fame making a mockery of negative Chinese stereotypes to western audiences and now apparently sold out to the Chinese government.

Late comment, but there’s a lot more to this story:

The “anti china” comments were made in the context of Mikey’s religion. Mikey Chen is a member of the chinese cult Falun Gong, he posted a video about it. The beliefs of Falun Gong are kinda wild, and you should look them up yourself, cuz you gotta see it to believe it.

I’m not saying Mikey is nefarious or sinister in any way, he creates great content and I have no idea what he does with his spare time. But he is promoting an actual cult that has its fair share of sketchy practices. I believe that’s why Nigel started distancing. It’s not solely because of China’s audience alone.
Also, don’t get me wrong the CCP is evil as hell, but Falun Gong aren’t exactly righteous either.

What's really upsetting is how he worded his apology on Weibo. He made it sounds like Mike was such a horrible person that he couldn't even be seen associating with Mike. If he just like, deleted the video and said nothing or just said that he doesn't want drama and that's it, the damage probably wouldn't be this deep. And then, on the next video he has the audacity to say "no politics on this channel yada yada yada.." while he did all that because of Mike's political view.

I don’t think you understand, the issue was taking down the video but also uncle roger said “I wasn't aware of his political thoughts and his past incorrect remarks about China.” This is what did him in.

Mike Chen makes great videos, as well as occasionally talks about the atrocities which China commits regularly.

In a podcast with 'China Unscripted', Mike said that Nigel aka Uncle Roger had not reached out to him before or after taking the collab video down. Not a peep, and has even unfriended Mike on social media. So not only has Nigel not alerted or consulted MIke, but has even ghosted him. To add insult to injury, Nigel labels Mike's political views (which never turned up in the video at all nor is usually in any of Mike's videos) as "incorrect" in an apology to China-based fans (only, no explanation or apology was given to any other fans elsewhere), asking them for another chance for him to improve over his negligence of not knowing and checking Mike's political stance on China before making the collab video.
