We all know Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google and Alphabet. He is one of the most famous engineers in the world. He is an inspiration for millions of engineers and aspiring engineers around the world. But his story is not the norm. It is an exception. For most Indian engineers, the reality is far from rosy. They face a crisis of devaluation of their degree, which has lost its prestige and relevance in the changing world. How did this happen? And what can be done to fix it? In this video, we will expose the truth behind the devaluation of the Indian engineering degree. We will show you how a degree that was once a passport to prosperity has become a burden for many. We talk to actual engineers who share their experiences of attending Indian engineering colleges. Watch the video to find out more!

People do Engineering just to realize what they actually want to do in their life 😄

As a doctor I can confidently say that soon medical field is going to be like the current engineering situation in next 5 years if u see the amount of medical colleges and students coming out every year

As a JEE aspirant this was way more motivating for me to study hard at the moment to get into a good college

I'm an engineering student (2nd sem C.S) in Bengaluru studying in a tier 2 college and i can totally confirm on most of the points you made in this video, but in Bengaluru there is a greater chance of getting placed in a company, but all we have to learn is through self study, because most of the syllabus is outdated be it a top tier college.

There’s is a difference between actual engineers and people who went to engineering college.

Hats off to those students who got engaged in Competitive Programming and got Jobs on their own by giving exams competitively
A path that needs consistency

I am from a National Institute of Technology, and I am absolutely disappointed with the curriculum. It's so outdated and useless. I have some friends from IITs and even they have the same feelings. Even in IITs, most of the syllabus is outdated. And the worst part is that it is very difficult to pass these outdated courses because the professors don't even teach properly, some of them just read the slides and give us assignments without giving us time to truly grasp the concepts. The act of studying these outdated courses causes us to lose our creativity and intelligence. We just turn into robots and lose our personalities in the process. I don't blame the engineers for being unemployable, I blame the college. They went into college with happiness and came out broken. It is not the case that engineers are unemployable from birth, the truth is that creative people join college and they are punished for their creativity because colleges only focus on getting marks. And these gifted students slowly start "decaying" because of the toxic environment in college and end up turning into broken men/women with no skills and no desire to achieve great heights.

I am completely against JEE. Why does a computer science aspirant need to study physics, chemistry and mathematics to get into a computer science program? They should test their coding skills as well as their knowledge in computer science. Why can't we just write a mathematics and computer science exam to get into computer science? What is this rubbish....

And I am also completely against the curriculum in first year of engineering. Why should computer science engineers study Engineering Drawing with a pencil, compass and all those complicated and outdated methods when the whole world is using CAD? And why am I being taught workshop practices. I came here to become a computer science engineer not a mechanic.
And why the f*** do I need to study chemistry again in first year, again doing that titration nonsense in the laboratories.

It is not the engineer's fault for being unemployable. It is the fault of the colleges for producing unemployable engineers. We are paying money to get educated, not to get tortured.

This is why most students go abroad to do their masters, this seriously needs to be highlighted

Mohak, kindly make a video about doctors in India in same style, highlighting the poor quality of education and outdated curriculum in our colleges and corruption by politicians in medical edu sector. Thanks!
Recently for a job offer of 6 junior doctors in Delhi there were more than 400 applicants. I am grateful to you for creating awareness about relevant social issues. Thanks

As a BITSian, It's amazing to see that my college is supporting startups so much. We don't have any mandatory attendance, can get easy funding from college for startup and take deferred placement if we want to try our startup. An amazing Alumini network also helps a lot ❤❤

I would like to request to make a video on "CAREER GUIDANCE", bachoo ko pata he nhi gine chune 4-5jobs ke alawa bhi bahut career hote hai, everyone just follows the Rat Race and out of which only few of them actually find their GOALS, some time it's too late to begin better all of us have a proper GUIDANCE in beginning

I’m an alumni from Nirma and I can confirm what Shivam said….they don’t keep their professors just like that…each and every professor was a PHD holder and most of them were with Nirma since it’s inception….and the curriculum they follow is mostly followed in IITs and IIMs

I'm from IIT Roorkee, and I can say we are still being taught engineering drawing, but we'll also be taught CAD, traditional engineering drawing is mostly done for concepts but those classes have 4 hour practicals. And I think from next year our curriculum is getting revised and they're adding data science and AI/ML in our course and also removing the unnecessary stuff.

The problem with engineering jobs is that there is no limit on the amount of work hours. My uncle works for an MNC and has great salary but the workload is too hectic. He is always on call or working on something. He has the money but almost no time to spend it.
Remember guys, jindagi sirf weekends pe jine ke liye nahi hai
Edit: Guys stop competing on whose life is more miserable in the replies. We all have our ups and downs. Just because someone has money does not mean that they are problem free. Also, people have put in the effort to earn that money. If you can't be better, atleast don't be bitter.

I'm a student from the VIT VELLORE studying computer science engineering that mohak talked about in the literally I'm amongst those students who is just being sick of going to classes just for attendance because most of the tchrs are unable to teach I watch YouTube videos to learn topics myself and classes are just a waste of time for me in that case from that we get useless projects and lab works which we won't have any use in further future please help us

Great video as always. Two observations I have; 1. Living in the UK I see that students have to self study here too and 2) if we take out the ability to communicate in English as a criteria for quality, many more Engineers will make the cut especially those with the right aptitude and knowledge but having difficulty to convey ideas in English. In my previous job in Blr, we had an engineer working as service technician and drawing a lesser salary only because he could not speak good English. We see engineers from Japan, Italy, France speaking the regional language and working in tech without any difficulty.
