Lindsey Graham explains opposition to DC statehood

U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) and Steve Daines (R-Montana) will hold a press conference to detail their opposition to making the District of Columbia a state.

Article 1, Section 8, Clause 17 of the document reads, _“The Congress shall have Power To …exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten Miles square) as may, by Cession of particular States, and the Acceptance of Congress, become the Seat of the Government of the United States.”_

If DC does become a State then it can no longer serve as the Seat of Government of the United States of America.
