For everyone wondering, David Chang bought a trademark for "Chili Crunch" and then proceeded to go after basically every Chili Oil seller for "infringement". Apparently he backed down after the asian community bitched him though.

I’ve never “hated” a celebrity before Chang. But chili crunch made me say, I’m avoiding anything that’s ever associated with that guy.

I used to pick peppers for that sauce for underwood when that happened. My pops was the machinist and i was a picker on the line

Can't wait for the Netflix Biopic on the Sriracha war and the Hulu doc on the players that made it all come crumbling down

Underwood is supposedly the original pepper farm used for the old Sriracha formula.

😂 not the Chang shot. When I heard about that, I thought of two things the pokébowl guy and what would Bourdain say/is rolling in his grave right now.

My favorite Sriracha is still Tuong Ot. I've tried the Tabasco brand Sriracha, it wasn't bad, had some decent flavor, but still wasn't as good as Tuong Ot. I'd be willing to try this one though.

Huy Fong used the same supplier/farmer (Underwood) since its conception. Creators son, of Huy Fong sriracha, graduated with a business degree and his father gave him the company. Son then told Underwood he wanted a ton more peppers, requiring farmer to purchase more land. Underwood and Huy Fong signed a deal where they would buy all the peppers for a certain amount. Come first harvest, son said "no thanks, I'm not buying unless you sell it to me for almost half the price" (at a price that would result in a net-loss for Underwood). It was an argument. Underwood sued and won. Huy Fong paid the settlement then outsourced the rest of their peppers to a bunch of farms in Mexico but at the absolute worst time: during a massive drought. Not only were the peppers not growing the same (changing their flavor profiles) but they couldn't even come close to growing the amount they needed, the amount that Underwood could, yet alone at the same quality.
Underwood obviously tastes different because if it were the same, Huy Fong would have the argument that Underwood stole their recipe.
Our lives changed because of one mans greed.
VERY interesting story. Almost like a tale or greek mythology. Pretty crazy.

Yep. It really depends on your taste.
If you like vinegar taste, then Underwood it is.
If you like garlic taste, then the original.

Houy fong Sriracha is brighter when first opened. It darkens after exposure to air, over time.

Can you please mix those 2 together to see if you get the OG Sriracha?
