Ball Lightning Captured in 2022

On April 12th 2022, I was driving east on Highway 3 towards Humboldt Iowa when a nearby lightning strike struck approximately 50 meters from my vehicle. At this moment, the 360-degree camera mounted on top of my vehicle potentially captured an extraordinarily rare phenomena, Ball Lightning!

I've witnessed ball lightning before and it was terrifying. I was definitely young, but the noise, and movement of it was the unsettling feeling.

it really seems like something derivative of bead lightning, be it something in the lightning path like dust or a bug, or just a pocket of plasma like the rest of the lightning, but just happens to persist for longer than the rest of the bolt. Very fascinating, i think this could go a long way in helping explain ball lightning!

Back in 2000 or so when I was a kid my best friend's dad told me and him a story about how he experienced ball lightning as a child. He was home alone and a storm was rolling in. He went into the kitchen when there was a loud crack and a ball of lightning appeared over the sink and drifted into the room towards him but then suddenly darted off to a nearby power outlet and vanished leaving a burnt smell behind.

I experienced ball lightning. I was little, staying with my mom at a mountain cabin (my dad and brothers got bored and went home). There was a massive lightning "summer" storm. Constant loud thunder/lightning. I was terrified. My mom held me and comforted me, lying over a bed. Then we heard the loudest thunder strike ever, shook the house. Heard a crackling, popping, sizzling sound, hairs all stood up, the sound moved throughout the cabin, until it suddenly zapped away. I didn't actually see it, but to this day I hold the belief the lightning strike produced a ball.

When my grandmother was young, she wanted to close the front door after airing out the house. As she entered the hallway, she saw a large, blue glowing ball hovering in the corridor. She didn't know what it was, but it frightened her immensely! She quickly ran into the living room. If she had walked just one meter closer to the ball lightning, she might have been hit by it. Twenty minutes later, the eerie phenomenon ended.

I think you really need to experience it firsthand to understand the truth about ball lightning. It's likely an interesting but also very frightening experience!

That's actually genuinely something. I mean actually it's likely just a bit of ionized air that lingers (you can see this happen in any lightning strike if you slow down the video), but this one lingered for so long that it definitely does seem to shift into becoming true ball lightning.

Not an electrical short. Not a UFO hoax. The real thing. One of the rarest videos on YouTube.

It looks like bead lighting to me. Bead lightning is basically just the decaying aftermath of a lightning bolt

few days ago i have seen same light ball like in this video but it was shining high in the sky for something like 30 secounds then disapeared i recroder last secounds of its life

That looks like what is called "bead" lighting, rather than ball.
It only last for seconds, and is what remains as a branch of lighting dies away.

Whereas ball lighting is that curiosity which lasts for minutes, rolls on the ground, floats through the air, & can pass through windows and walls - even of an aeroplane. Famously this happened on a plane in the early 60s. It just so happened that a scientist was on the plane, and saw the ball outside the plane, then come inside. He and all the other passengers watched it.
