wrong thumbnail.... I thought you are going to show the paint chip on the hood like in the thumbnail.... disappointed...

Unless it's a $10 K  or more car; $2 sandpaper and $10 can of spray paint is the best.
I do appreciate your videos.

Scotty, I love your videos but I think this is a bit complicated if you don't already own an airbrush and compressor. Most car paint stores will mix your paint and make you an aerosol spray-can with it and I've done that and used it many times, one spray-can is good for a whole bunch of touch-ups and cost me 14$. A hell of a lot cheaper and less trouble than a compressor, airbrush + thinner, the work in cleaning the airbrush, etc.

originally i was typing "how to touch up your roots by yourself" instead it suggested "How to touch up car paint" glad I clicked this video, I just scrapped the front bumper of my car and was worried about 100's in repairs this was well explained and entertaining you have earned my subscription

I guess it's just all personal opinion, but I think it would look much better a flat black or flat dark charcoal.  Being silver,  all those weld and manufacturing marks stick out like sore thumbs.

Hey Scotty, I really appreciate your videos. Being a woman, most anytime I try to learn about vehicles I'm met with criticism or sarcasm instead of useful information. I also appreciate the lack of fluff info just to make a video longer. If content creators only knew that's what causes people to skip portions of their videos maybe they'd stop. Yeah I know, fat chance. So here's my question, I have a luminess make up air brush system and I'm wondering if I could use paint in it as long as I flush it out. I don't see how it would mess it up, the paint stays in the metal reservoir until it's pushed out by air therefore it never touches anything but metal. I think it will work.

Great tutorial. Lots of people paint the pinch weld flat black to hide it, because it's uneven looking and stands out in those lighter colors. But to bring it back to factory, it should be body color on most '60s-'90s cars.

I love how he started the video with nice brushed hair. And ended the video with crazy sweaty hair. Hahaha

Top tip cover the end and press the spray trigger to force the air out of the gun so it will spray smooth from the get go

Can you also make a video of how you can touch up paint on the hood for example?

Dislikes are probably local mechanics hating him for sharing this glorious educational video.

Thanks Scotty, for all those who have a better idea then add or subtract methods. To keep a video shorter and to the point is most helpful (too much detail can confuse many )... Do your research on Diy repairs and there's no shame it having a honest mechanic employed to do the job. just check with the bbb .

One small thing I would do is mask up the top with something just because over spray. And you might say it's not noticeable but with me being a painter my self I would notice it. I really hate see cars driving down the road and you see that the paint doesn't match up perfect it's off just the slightest but I see it all the time haha

Thanks scotty, got off of an 11 hr day to return to my car with fist size paint spot gone from my roofs paint.. no rust, clean smooth factory metal underneath.

Moisture got underneath paint, bubbled up, and cracked/flaked off when i went to attempt moving bubble.

Sometimes in a pinch you can hillfolk a tack cloth like this:
Get a blue Scott towel and a can of spray paint and mist the towel lightly and wipe.
Those tack cloths are a little pricey and an old timer body shop guy told me that one.
