Gotta love Yu-Gi-Oh! Card descriptions!

"A sorcerer blessed by lunar light with powers far beyond mortal comprehension"

There is a reason for these cards getting retrains as Exodia support. These were the cards owned by Grandpa Muto. In the anime, Solomon Muto’s eygptian ancestor freed Exodia from his chains and summoned him to clash with Zorc. The clash was so brutal Exodia was broken into pieces, scattered into 5 different cards. That ancestors spirit would then be reincarnated in Solomon Muto, who would come to be the guardian of these 5 pieces. Among the Exodia pieces in Solomon’s deck, these other monsters would also make an appearance.

These retrains reveal his connection to Exodia and the Millenium items by rebranding his most iconic cards as Millenium guardians. Awesome fan service for a long forgotten character.

I'm actually shocked they haven't turned an old Insect monster into the Millennium Bug

Millenium Shield was actually a meta card back in the super early days of YuGiOh.
I'm pretty sure it won the very first YuGiOh tournament in a deck made to stall out the opponent and win through burn effects.

I always love them showing they don’t forget random old monsters, desperately rare Konami W’s when they do this
Though a part of me loves the obscurity of some of these Series 1 monsters without the spotlight on them, since they feel like my own personal secret cards that very, VERY few other players have
Maiden of the Moonlight was one of my favs…..
Ahh, well, at least there’s still Lunar Queen Elzaim, who’s her recolored counterpart, and who has never been printed in the TCG or even reprinted once in general in over a quarter of a century

I'm glad they made an effect version of Cosmo Queen, one of my favorite normal cards. My favorite normal monster was always Vorse Raider. I'd love to see an effect version of it, and no, I don't count Kaiser Vorse Raider. I'd also love to see a Serpent Night Dragon with an effect.

I remember really wanting to collect any card that had anything to do with the Millennium Eye, learning about the Shield and Sengenjin in a card guide but having no way to get them, quite the memories :)

Now I want to see an epic battle of the veterans: millennium vs Memento

These look like custom cards someone on DeviantArt made.

I want Toon Relinquished in the game, personally. It's really unfortunate that Relinquished and Toons don't really synergize.

I’m actually stoked. They should make each one of the millennium items a continuous spell card that has cool crazy effects.

They're doing whatever it takes to memorialize Takahashi's life's work...

Sengenjin was my favourite card as a kid, by far the strongest monster any of my friends had, love that guy

Why yes, I am a fan of the older vanillas. I actually want to get the original cards these retrains are based off of

"A bunch of retrained vainillas that support a big monster" We have 2 decks like that, with Exodia and Memento.

Exodia is such an iconic monster, and was featured in the opening to season 1, yet he was only ever used by Yugi ONCE throughout the entire series...

I feel these is the start of era where random old vanilla monster who has no connection with each other in lore began to group up and form there own archetype

Then in Rage of the Abyss, we got a Blue Eyes retrain called "Heart of the Blue Eyes". This card is interesting for the fact that it's actually a reference to the Toei Yu-Gi-Oh! anime released exclusively in Japan, popularly dubbed "Season 0." In one episode, Yugi duels against Kaiba after Kaiba steals Grandpa's Blue Eyes White Dragon and uses it against Yugi. However, the Blue Eyes refused to obey Kaiba because his heart wasn't in the card because he stole it rather than earned it. This allowed Yugi to turn the situation around and beat Kaiba, winning back the Blue Eyes which he returned to Grandpa. Later in DM, the anime we know, Kaiba won the Blue Eyes from Grandpa and tore it right in front of Yugi. Heart of the Blue Eyes is therefore a retrain of that destroyed card specifically since Solomon Muto had a strong, sentimental bond with it.
