How to cut and paste files in Finder (Mac)

Cut and paste in Finder works a little differently. Unlike other cut and paste operations, you don’t have to cut the file. Instead all you need to do is copy the file: select the file and press Command-C. Navigate to your desired location and press Command-Option-V. Remember, if you press Command-V instead, you will create a copy of the file instead of moving it. This will move the file to the new location.

Best video ever. Straight to the point. No bullshit. Exactly what we searched for. Why all the dislikes?Jeez.

Can't believe this existed after using Mac for around 10 years. Is the first time I needed to cut a big file. I've always copy it and then remove it from original source. Great video, short and straight to the point!

Thank you much! The amount of Videos and online answers that DON'T answer the question!!!

For those who turned on the automatically generated subtitles and read them instead of listening to the audio – there is a spelling mistake. It says cmd+opt+B, but it is cmd+opt+V.

Wow, thanks very much!!!! After using Mac for nearly 4 year i just found out how to cut and paste. When I brought my Mac I did a research and the info I found said that it was impossible in the MacOS. Apparently that wasn't the true. I am going to subscribe

This video is pretty good, but Mac system sucks.
What's the point of not being to completely move your file from 1 place to another? It's like going backwards in technology.
Instead of just the one action of cutting, we now Copy+Move, then go back to the original file to delete it. Imagine we are sorting numerous files in a folder. How inefficient! :(

You can also move files by copying the file, right click on the destination folder, press option. "MOVE ITEM HERE" will appear on the selection box.

Moving from Windows to a MacBook Pro. Was wondering why CTRL+C/CTRL+V didn't work. Now I know (and wondering what else the Mac does differently). But thanks! Subbed!

COMMAND OPTION V WORKS, SOMETIMES. SOMETIMES THE FILE IS NOT PASTED LEAVING OPEN THE OPTION FOR ERROR WHEN THINKING IT HAS BEEN PASTED AND REMOVING THE ORIGINAL FILE. THE LACK OF A RELIABLE CUT AND PASTE IS A SERIES FLAW IN THE MAC'S CAPABILITIES

So to cut and paste, you copy and paste. But what about a *cut* and paste? i.e. answering the question
