This series is so healing for me to watch, I was in a relationship for a long time with someone who would get so frustrated at me if I did anything slow or not right, or messily when we would work on things together, especially house things. Watching you two work together, being silly, being unphased, being unreactive, not getting frustrated but laughing and relishing in the chaos of it all... It's just such a reminder for me that this is what I wanted in my life, and it can exist. I don't want to take things so seriously, I don't want so much frustration at little mistakes or messes. Ugh please continue posting this series I will be watching every episode. you are now one of my favourite youtubers!

As you go through the demolishings, it becomes so clear how neglected this house was. Even though it's a gem of its era, it will be difficult to save a lot of things just because it's all old, water damaged and mouldy. STILL, keeping the original shell and making new homages to its former glory days will be the best thing ever!

“…it’s not structural…” “No it’s not, but I wonder if it became structural…”
This exchange perfectly encapsulates a down to the studs / gut job / renovation on a neglected home.

Here’s a pro tip I learned from my contractor.
When you are sweeping up after a demolition; tape down a big piece of scrap of cardboard using painter’s tape.
Sweep everything onto the cardboard.
Pull it up, bend it a little and pour your trash into your bags for the dump.
Way better than the little dust pan I was struggling with
I hope this saves your back a little bit of distress.

I love what you are doing!

The orange tiles and blue inner cabinets are so unique!! Please, if you cannot salvage anything, at least keep little samples to get them color matched. Find some way to add it back into the finished space 🥰 -your local interior designer

Happy birthday Jenna, 28 is magical, I know because I've been 28 for 40 years now!

You're literally living my dream: being able to afford buying an old house, cleaning, repairing and recondition it to build it back up as you wish. And specially, doing that with a partner that supports you, that shares the same goal, with whom you can work together and live there afterwards. I love these videos, please continue doing them and the longer, the better!

I always appreciate Nicks commentary about the house. He seems very smart and a great help for you with this project!

Every time you remove a wall or half wall the light just shines through. You are literally breathing new life and sunshine into this house. It’s so rewarding.

Hole in kitchen floor was probably a dumbwaiter. That oven is iconic. Please invest in a push broom.

Here’s an electrical tip, invest in a voltage tester or “tick tester”. They’re only about $20 and can be used to determine whether or not a wire, outlet, or other device has active power running through it.

Before you scrap the washer and dryer check if they work. Older appliances usually last years longer than modern ones. You could install them in the garage to make more room in the kitchen.

On the angled part of the counter there is a built in butcher block cutting board, KEEP THAT!! Those are really expensive and only need minimal work to recover.
