William Booth God's Soldier is a documentary film made in 1953 about General William Booth the founder of The Salvation Army.

This timeless film tells of how a pawnbroker from Nottingham by the name of William Booth went on to establish The Salvation Army which is now working in 126 countries worldwide.

It includes photographs and original footage of General William Booth.

I grew up in the salvation army, they saved our lives, youngest of a single mother, 6 kids, I will never forget how they helped us, I miss my childhood church, so many memories

My grandmother was born in 1896 in Liverpool. Orphaned age 10 she was taken into the care of the Bluecoat School and orphanage before starting in service at a house called Clearwood in Mossley Hill.
I adored my sweet Nanna who told me all she knew about the Salvation Army singing their songs & banging her handbag as a pretend tambourine!

Time goes in a circle somehow. In the late 1970s I was a social worker in Manchester Royal Infirmary on a rota to help A&E. There on a bed was a destitute gentleman, dressed in rags with fleas jumping all over him. No-one including me wanted to approach too close to him
But I knew a hostel that would take him & care for him. The Salvation Army.

I rang & without hesitation a caring voice told me send him down to them.

I bless the Salvation Army. They are truly Christian souls to care for such a man whom no one else wanted to touch. And I truly thank them x

I was a British soldier and served in Germany, Bosnia and Kosovo.... the salvation army was there doing their fantastic work, risking death from the war in Bosnia.... Two lads in my army unit were killed and one wounded by a sniper shot in the face and the Sally Army was there with tea and support, books etc not asking for anything but just giving, they were just doing gods work helping I have all the time in the world for the Salvation Army... bless them all

I'm not a soldier but attend our local corp regularly and i plan on raising my grandson in the church. I have also worked in the summer and after school youth program and plan to do so again. The salvation army is the first to help after hurricanes. Such a blessing!!

Amazing..he is a humble strong person, strong faith, he is now resting with his wife and daughter from their magnificent wonderful work here on earth. Waiting to sit on the throne that Jesus Christ prepared for them. I watch many stories of the heroes of faith but he is a unique a different good one.His weapon is only the words of God. His heart is big and shining like the sun for the people living in darkness. Truly God is with him through his son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.
