Mumbai is popularly known as a City that Never sleeps. There are a lot of people who do work the midnight shift - Movie actors, Television actors, news reporters, journalists, cops International travellers who just landed in Mumbai and even Public transport maintenance services. They all need food at some point of time during their shift and hence the late night food carts. what you explored is just the tip of the iceberg. There are many more around Andheri (thats where the International airport is ) Bandra and South Mumbai. Some actually start their business from Midnight till 7 am !!

Mumbai has a lot of eateries that serve even at ungodly hour, many people work in BPOs some have day shift, some have night shift, so these place are good for people who have office shift at say 1 am and suddenly feel hungry or those leaving the shift at 1 am
