GoPro HERO 9 Max Lens Mod Review!

Here's my honest review of the GoPro HERO 9 Max Lens Mod, currently $100, but is it actually worth it?! Max res is 2.7K 60fps, which still looks pretty nice and sharp, and the horizon level/lock mode is very cool, but there's some caveats to know.

I bought this for $69 since I have the gopro subscription. I LOVE this lens. I use it on my chest mount while I fish and it does an amazing job! It was a good investment. Thanks for your review.

Great review! Agreed, $100 is too much but getting this for $70 as a subscriber is more tolerable. I love the stabilization and the lock and the portrait lock, and the max hyperlapse is something I've reviewed and really like. The one negative I found was playing the 60 fps back in 2x slow mo... definitely looks like EIS is fighting itself and doesn't have a clean slow motion look which was disappointing. Not for everyone but definitely fun to mix in!

Good review. You didn't mention but if you have a gopro plus subscription the Max lens mod is $69.99. Thats still a little pricey and not everyone has GP+. Excellent review. I got one for the horizon lock when my kids what to film since they're arms are all over the place haha.

Thanks for that footage _not_ in Max mode, that was helpful to see. I've been debating picking up a supposedly-equivalent third-party fisheye lens for $50 (as the Max Lens Mod is still out of stock), but Max mode unfortunately removes things like night time lapse mode which would be one of my use cases for super-wide-FOV video. I might still get one eventually, but it'll probably be lower priority now. :)

It's 50% off if you have a GoPro Subscription account, which also gives you replacement insurance if you damage your GoPro. That's what I went for in the end.

Hi Ben, new to vlogging and bought a Hero 8 black. Done some video and the audio was pretty low. All the tutorials show how to go in and fix change microphone input. My microphone is greyed out to stereo, and when I go into input/output I only get Audio Input : N/A. Any help is appreciated.

I wish I could bring down the resolution to 1080 actually. I shoot tons in 1080 and it works 90% fine and doesn't crush my computer resource needs!

I made some vertical 9:16 videos in 2.7k with the new max lens mod and uploaded them to youtube, but they are only showing in 480p maximum resolution, is this an issue with youtube or with the gopro settings i used?
