DIY Modern Maple Coffee Table // Woodworking Project

Показать описание
My wife and I wanted a more modern coffee table to match our newly acquired mid-century styled sofa, so I decided to make one. We wanted it to be made from maple, and have some steel legs.

The legs on our sofa were actually turned by Kyle Toth. Check out his channel and watch that video:

Love this project Bruce. I also love that you were willing to put less bow-ties so it would compliment the piece better. I also really liked the contrast of the bow-ties to the maple. Cheers!

Suggestion.. Turn your skill saw around in order to get better support for the weight of the saw. I use the skill saw to make the cut off, but leave it 1/16" -1/8" fat. I then reset my straight edge and run a router to take off the last little bit... it's the poor man's, long way 'round, festool.. or at least how I do it. Keep up the good work!

Also, why did you use the skill saw at 2:50 instead of a table saw? Forgive my ignorance. I guess it's simply because a table saw wouldn't have the room to hold the entire length of the table top against the fence? So, what would someone use as an alternative to a skill saw for a cut like that? Thanks!

looks awesome - one tip would be to use the router with the depth set at 0 (flush with the bottom of the router guide) to trim the excess of those bowties..

Nice coffee table! Now you need an end table to match... :)

Flip the circular saw around so more of the shoe is on the board. You'll have to set your straight edge 5" or so in.

What was the purpose of the bucket you had attached to the shop-vac?

Since you posted this 1 month ago, industrialbydesignco.com only sells hairpin legs and barn door hardware... did you get a custom order or something? Thanks!

those bow ties look great, coffee table or super sized chopping board.

I know this video is almost a year old but if you still have the table (or you have this picture), you may want to consider changing the thumbnail to feature the multiple bowties and adding it to the title. This would help it stand out from a regular coffee table.

Are you going to recycle the old coffee table to something else?

Linda mesa pero la que sacaron era más linda y además era de la misma línea de los otros muebles. Facepalm xd

You're using the wrong edge of your skill saw to try to get a perfect cut that narrow Edge is not going to give you a better cut
