Focusing on the positives after a loss and dreaming big but at the same time realizing that "You should be fine without it"...Thanks Fed..You've been an inspiration..

Djokovic simply dominates this year. I mean, he has been in every tournament final this year so far. For me, this is the most dominating season by some player. Sorry for my English :)

Some of the people in the comments, honestly are a disgrace to the sport. There is no place here for stupid, pointless and vulgar comments seemingly made by 10 year olds. People seem to only be able to view the world in black and white. Clearly, these two are both extraordinary tennis players and both deserve respect and awe, unless you are better than them, which is highly unlikely. Excuses like "Federer is old and can't therefore play so well" or exclamations like "Federer only won so many grand slams because he played in a "weak era" " are all irrelevant here in my opinion. What is important is that both players played well enough to make it to the final and one, namely Djokovic played a bit better and won the match and the championship. For that, there is no reason to hate on Djokovic or give excuses to why Federer lost. After all, we must remember that we are talking about the world number one and two players, therefore, none of them can possibly doing "bad" in their tennis career.s I think it was a great match, respect goes to both players, and I look forward to seeing how things will play out in the US Open.

The greatest player of all time; graceful in triumph and defeat!!
He is the most complete player ever to play the game...
Nobody will be able to fill the void after he's gone!!
Such an inspiration...he exemplifies how much an individual can achieve professionally and personally!

Unfortunately he didn't bring his A game, but his demolition of Murray was hands down the best performance I have ever seen of Federer in the last 10 years.

These comments bashing Federer saying that he has 17 slams because of a "weak era" make me sick. Federer made everyone in his era look weak because of how good he was. Guess what? Roddick leads H2H against Djokovic, of whom was part of Federer era and is called "weak", and Federer is 21-3 against Roddick. Now here comes the comment "Djokovic wasn't in his prime then". Wake up, Federer isn't in his prime now and hasn't been in years. Yet he was #1 throughout all of his era and then again in 2012 when Djokovic, Nadal, and Murray were all in prime. So this era is just so strong? Where Djokovic's biggest rival is a 34 year old?!

Where the "weak era" argument really falls down is that federer is still the world number 2. He's one of only 3 people to have defeated Novak this year. While he may not be winnings slams, he's still a contender at 33. That's damn impressive

What's more - I think that it's clear that Novak is the best player on tour at the moment (by a comfortable margin) but his loss at the French really illustrates how hard it is to win a slam, because you need to be consistently better across 7 tough matches. So even if Federer was living in a weaker era, his ability to consistantly win slams is remarkable.

Also, read Agassi's biography - he played Courier and Sampras and Becker and McEnroe and he talks about how Federer plays like no one else.

You can't deny that Federer is great - and I don't understand why some people can't recognise that more than one person can be great at tennis! Federer and Nadal and Djokovic are all greats of the game and this squabbling in YouTube comments about which one is the greatest is ridiculous and belittles what they have each managed to achieve. What's more, they reached the peak of their excellence TOGETHER, by pushing each other to be more. It's not a case of one of these players being the GOAT, but rather of the era being great.
