Ancient Wisdom at an Ancient Library

Applications for Ralston College's MA in the Humanities for 2023 are now open. Dr. Peterson does not teach at Ralston.

Ralston College presents the inaugural lecture of its Chancellor, Dr Jordan B Peterson, delivered at one of the most iconic sites of the ancient world, the Library of Celsus in Ephesus. This ancient city was the birthplace of Heraclitus, the philosopher who first articulated the idea of the Logos, and the final resting place of St. John, who uses that same Greek word to name the Divine Word. In his lecture, Dr Peterson argues that the intelligibility of the world depends on the patterned regularities that are superordinate to our immediate perception; this underlying order - which, from the Greeks onward, we have called Logos - is both the horizon that enables human perception and the basis for the possibilities that we realize in the world. Such an account of our intrinsic, rational, and self-determining capacity constitutes a challenge to the assumptions of many prevailing schools of thought - such as behaviorism, rigid empiricism, and postmodernism - and lays the burden of personal ethics, and the formation of a good society, squarely on the shoulders of the individual.

That this human being has not received at least one Nobel prize is beyond belief. A savant of the ages. Pass this on to your friends to make their lives and all human lives better. Cheers all

Lecturing at Ephesus, among those ancient stones...thinking about the men that stood where you stand, passing along their wisdom to the gathered crowd...I can't help but to think how much you belong there in that moment, taking your place with the great orators.
Merry Christmas, Dr. Peterson. Thank You.

I Suffer horribly from Paranoid Personality disorder.
Always suspicious of the intent of others, terrified of everything pretty much.
Always worried I'd end up in a padded cell till I died.
And listening to Jordan actually chills it the hell out..
Thank you Jordan...so much
From the depth of my soul.🙏🙏🙏

I was at Ephasus a few years ago. I had a personal guide and she took me 500 meters from the ampatheater there, I could hear people whispering there. It made me imagine Paul's booming voice carrying over the entire city. Truely a marvelous experience.

I visited Ephesus twenty years or so ago, but in daytime. It was an amazing time, being in a place mentioned in the Bible and part of the development of Humankind. Whilst in Turkey, I read that the Turkish people love it when tourists speak their language, so on the last of several visits to an excellent restaurant we visited several times during our stay, I said whatever the word is, (can't remember it now), that translates as 'Thank you for your hospitality'. The waitress was delighted and went out back and brought all the other waiters and the chefs out and they all shook my hand and we all took photos of each other. How easy it is for people of different cultures and different countries to unite. We are all human, sharing a beautiful planet. Let's start now, how we would like our children to continue on.

The doctor was on fire this evening. God bless you and the wisdom you channel, God bless those who listen and are willing to walk the path.

If that's not the most important message that the world needs to hear at this point, I don't know what is. "Wake up!" What a gift this video is for all and hopefully a large number of us will watch it, again and again.

Greetings from Turkey Prof. Peterson. It was a pleasure to host you eventhough I sadly was not aware. It feels great to be alive during a great philosopher's era, and to be able to witness his work. Inspiring mind.

This was Dr Peterson at his best. The lecture combined his professional knowledge of psychology, and perception for that matter, his wisdom of an experienced clinician, with his penetrating and deep analysis of the biblical corpus. The Logos is the primordial Spirit of God that we are all called to embody. Thank you, Dr Peterson.

I wonder if these students recognize just how fortunate they are to have been able to listen to this genius of our time in person. Jordan Peterson will certainly be remembered in history as one of the greatest minds EVER. His lessons will teach future generations.

There's something about this lecture of yours that sets it apart from the rest. You laid out many deep concepts along a clear, logical path. The thoughts and ideas of yours that I've found most interesting have all been put together here. I'll be giving this lecture another listen, and by that I mean at least two or three more listens over the course of the week. Thank you for sharing the ideas you've been thinking about for so long with us all, Dr. Peterson!

If Jordan Peterson cannot motivate you to act in your own best interest and to act for the good of the people around you while pursuing a way of truth and peace, then what can?..Amazing speech. I feel really grateful for being able to watch this for free on here.

It's absolutely crazy, this entire lecture is essentially isomorphic to how I've learned over the past few years to understand the nature of the human soul and how it relates to perception; I've tried explaining these concepts to friends and failed to find to words to do so effectively, but this lecture is an amazing tool for that, thank you Peterson

My fav part of the lecture is when the dog barks, pulling us collectively out of the abstract and into the reality of the here and now and the real; A brilliant moment of grounding by a lovely four-legger. Tk u Dr P, I’m one of the millions you’ve had an immeasurable positive impact on; I went from being depressed and confused to becoming a first responder - I wouldn’t have likely made that journey without your insights being part of the matrix of media content informing my journey forward.

It is SO BEAUTIFUL to see THE MAN himself visiting a monumentally significant site such as this, that gave the birth of some of the greatest ideas man has ever had to date, that our beloved Professor can afford to go, and walk the same corridors as once great men like himself did, so long ago. He in a way fits there so perfectly, seeing him walk there, I'm so overjoyed for his success, I wish you continue to do this for many, many decades to come, and continue to educate us rightly. God Bless You and Yours Professor Peterson.

How do I build a relationship with language like Dr. Peterson has? Not only can he accurately convey his thought, he does so in such a poetic, passionate, complex yet easily digestible, sophisticated yet comprehensive, elegant, charismatic way. I struggle to even accurately describe it. It’s truly remarkable to watch this man speak.

Whow, I got goosebumps around 1:03:00. Jordan Peterson has been a tremendous influence to me every since I discovered his lectures around 2015, 2016 and listened almost daily ever since... There is in my mind no-one who is alive today who has a better understanding of what it really means to be human than him. And that's why they're trying to silence him.
