As we see many times in the series, Earthbenders are able to bend the very ground they stand on, or being stood on by others. King Bumi is able to slip under ground and pop out in a completely different location. A very handy, albeit dangerous technique.

Now this defensive technique used to escape, can easily be reversed into an offensive one. You could completely. The earth bender could easily disintegrate the ground underneath his target, turning it almost to liquid beneath him. At this point, the victim would sink into the ground, where the bender could finally close the rock above his head, trapping him forever.

At this point, not even the strongest of humans could not free themselves from being fully surrounded by the stone and rock. there would be no leverage to push against or to even move their muscles. And it’s this point that is the most interesting. You would think that this technique is not efffective against earth benders, because they could simply bend themselves out of the stone… But when the rock is so tightly pressed against the individual, they will not be able to move any limbs to initiate the bending. Only those extremely advanced benders like Bumi, who can bend without the use of their limbs would have any chance of success…

And thats not accounting for suffocation, or even worse, a complete crushing where the Earthbender simply pushes the stone tighter and tighter together.

You know what? I often times forget how OP earthbending really is. I forget how versatile, deadly, and tactical it is. It's as plentiful as air, fierce as fire, and adaptable like water. I have been completely sleeping on earth manipulation and just forget how deadly it really is.

Roku did his as well when Sozin turned his back on him in his palace in the Earth Kingdom, sensing the firebending and burrowed down. Came out from the ground and hit Sozin back before destroying his palace.

Also cool to think about how when Aang was just starting to learn earth bending and Sokka got trapped in a similar way, he could’ve easily taken him out but I think Aang even said in the show that he’s afraid he’ll accidentally crush him because he’s still learning. I never stopped to really think about how gruesome that would actually be if that happened…

Btw considering how water benders can change the temperature of water and turn it into ice, do you think they can also increase the temperature of water and essentially boil it? Like how earth benders can melt rock turning it into lava.

Sandbenders could amass sand from the air and choke someone.
They could solidify sand particles into tiny rocks and shoot them at very high speeds like bullets.
They could also insert sand into a person's body, then solidify it into spikes, tearing that person from the inside out.

I wonder sometimes if earthbenders would be able to bend bones. They are made of calcium... would this be enough to consider bones as rocks/earth? If so, I think it would be even more terrifying since they would not even need earth around their targets. Just as bloodbenders, they would not need their element other than the one inside their enemies... Would not be that even more horrible? (sorry for bad spelling in english...)
