Why your baby suddenly stopped sleeping through the night (and how to fix it)

If your baby is suddenly waking more often at night, or suddenly they'll only sleep on you, you're probably wondering what has happened to your sleepy newborn...

When this happens and your little one is 3-5 months old, it usually means your baby is going through what's known as the 4 month sleep regression. This sleep regression is totally normal. It's not just a phase.

In fact, it means your baby's sleep pattern has matured! So it's kind of a 4 month sleep progression 😁. Even though it may not feel like it yet.

The 4 month sleep regression can be a very tricky time for parents. But it doesn't have to be!

In this video I share 6 simple sleep tips to help reduce the impact of the 4 month sleep regression and ensure you don't accidentally fall into some unhelpful habits which lead to even more broken sleep.

I have a 7 week old (my first child), thanks to your information I've learned so many things I did 't know before. I believed so many of the myths. Such as babies needing to be able to sleep in a noisy environment, and I didn't know that even though they might look asleep that it's their way of coping with busy surroundings. It's helped me get my baby girl in quite a good sleeping rythm. Some of my family (particularly mother in law) thinks I'm a little too uptight about her sleeping patterns and her sleeping in a dark and quiet area instead of the busy area of the house during the day, but so far she's extending her night sleeps from 11 - 3 'o clock sleep to feed, to 11 - 4:30! So far so good...

Also my MIL was over a few days ago and was holding her for 3, 5 hours... I have trouble standing up for myself and let it go for this once, and boy did I regret it. She cried from the afternoon when my MIL left to her late night feed. Never again!

My 9 month old is going through the same problem! He keeps waking up every 1-2 hours and he has to be breastfed to sleep. I request you to make a dedicated video for the age 9-12 months😭. We always refer to your videos for any help. Thank you soo much! 🤗❤

Thank you. You've become our go to for advice. I'm going to use the transition advice to get him into his own rib and crib.

Great video, only comment is a worthwhile one; a bedroom full of white noise has proven essential to getting and staying asleep. Whereas a quiet room has proven disruptive, in my experience.

Our almost 4mo is sleeping like 10hr in crib a night but all day naps are in arms. We are afraid to change anything we are doing because the night times are great atm.

Thank you for this video! My 8 month old wakes up every hour at night since he’s 3 month old, sometimes he sleeps better, sometimes he wakes me up like 8 times at night so I breastfeed him a little and he is asleep again. During the day he naps 30 minutes only, I try my best but it doesn’t change 😌

My baby is going through this at 3 months. I’m grateful that I can keep swaddling to help her through it, but it’s rough.
