Look at predictions of the year 2000 from 1920, then compare that to actual reality... There is no way any of this is remotely accurate

The problem with these number predictions is that they are regressed with current trends and past data (i.e. general population growth last 50 years, young population, capital investments).


In 80 years so much will happen that these numbers are unlikely to be true. Maybe you can provide some confidence intervals for the data found because for future predictions so far ahead you want to know the statistical likeliness of the numbers you present.

I'm from China, and from my personal experience, maybe it is pretty reasonable that China would no longer have very large cities, as there are signs of decentralizing already. People are moving away from large cities because they got industries in their hometowns, and due to the convenience of transportation it just makes more sense to not live and work in the overly expensive cities, but rather some adjacent cities.
Maybe by 2100 we just get the whole Yangtze River Delta as a giant "city", the whole Pearl River Delta as another (which could include Hong Kong as well), the whole Hebei province as yet another. The idea is, when you can go from Guangzhou to Hong Kong in 40 minutes they'll probably just develop into a single city within a few decades. I'm not sure, but it's possible I guess.
