Also big thing no one talks about are gap years AFTER uni

It’s always grad jobs grad schemes and unrealistic expectations of suddenly knowing what you’re doing and landing your dream job straight away

I'm Swedish and yes, most people here start uni between ages 21-25! I think uni is structured in a totally different way here as well though, you can easily apply for single courses (one term, half a term, many people do this after high school to get a feel of it) and uni is totally free. In a way, I think this makes Swedish students more lazy to start uni, because there are no consequences of putting it off. Wages here are high so working unqualified jobs makes for a pretty good standard of living as well

Jade: “even if you spend the entire year working at tesco”
Me who didn’t do ucas this year so I could travel but coronavirus made that impossible now and is actually stuck at tesco full time now school is cancelled: 👁👄👁

Also, at the end of my gap year and can 100% agree on everything you've said.
Another pro: You actually start missing studying at some point and get super hyped about going to uni
Another con: You have so many people you miss because all your friends live all over the world now.

I didn't go to uni aged 18, I didn't feel ready, so I took a "gap year" that lasted 3 years haha. I was an Au Pair and then worked in a ski resort - I couldn't afford a normal gap year experience but the jobs I did didn't cost me a thing! Everything was provided: Accommodation, food, lift pass, ski hire, travel from the UK to resort. Even as an Au Pair the accommodation and food was provided for, it was just the flight I had to pay for. So there are definitely options out there for those that don't think they can afford a gap year. :) I went to uni aged 21 and I am so glad I did that because I'd matured a lot over those 3 years of working abroad and could handle deadlines and uni stress a lot better than those that were younger than I was. :)

I personally think when you finish college (if you go) gap years should be mandatory. I took a three year gap year and it was the best thing I ever did. I think 18 year olds need to go out and experience the real world and try lots of things before they commit to one thing. I think going to university with more of an open mind than like Jade said being in the school system. You are kind of ignorant because of the education bubble and gap years allow you to grow and find yourself. I am very passionate about gap years.

I took a gap year two years ago, and it was so worth it. Actually, I wanted to go to uni abroad but I was so stressed out about it, so after choosing the right university and the right country I decided to spend my gap year traveling across it. I met so many new people, learned a language(from B1 to C1 in just one year among native speakers, it was really easy and it was a lot of fun), I found out a lot of new things, got to know other culture and finally I earned some money and saved some for a new academic year, so now I do recommend a gap year to everyone, especially if you doubt what you should do after school. Don’t be afraid of change ❤️
P.S. In my country literally nobody takes a gap year as it is considered as a waste of time, I was the only one from my school who took a gap year, all of my teachers didn’t support me in this and tried to persuade me, but luckily they didn’t succeed

My gap year is coming to an end and I 100% recognise myself in what you said. Even if I didn’t travel and I felt lonely sometimes it was really worth it, because I managed to do some things that I wouldn’t have been able to do if I hadn’t been on a gap year.

As an asian girl with brown parents I'd never be able to do all this...especially since I'm an only child so they're more protective.😂 I'm basically living my dreams through jade lol

I’m going into Year 11 and I’m pretty certain that after my a-levels, I will take a gap year!! I just think it will help me mature as a person and get travel and working experience that those at uni probably won’t have. You’ve really inspired me by seeing your gap year journey and I’m so happy you enjoyed it!! Love you so much, I’ve been watching your channel for 2 years and you’re just so lovely💗💗

So inspiring and I think a lot of people aren't taking the conventional way of life. We are told to go here, go there, graduate, get a 9-5 etc and you have shown so many of us that we can take our own life in a completely different and unique direction and gain so much from it. I cannot wait for my travelling days to come and I'm so excited to see your journey through university, JADE TAKES ON THE WORLD
