The WORLD's Most Bizarre BEACHES

There’s nothing quite like a day at the beach filled with fun in the sun, sand and surf, but not all beaches are created equal. Some places have sparkling blue or green waters, while others have sand-filled, cloudy waves. Some shorelines are dangerous, filled with rocks and riptides, while others are shallow and lined with soft sand.

Simon, I must applaud your heightened enthusiasm for virtually everything! How you get excited about of these topics is beyond me. But your thirst for knowledge and desire to share what you ‘found out today’... awesome. Huge fan

My parents took my siblings and I to Siesta Key every summer when I was a kid. It was really trippy to be outside in the middle of the day, with an air temperature in the upper 90's, and that white sand would be cool to the touch.

I have got to get myself to both Siesta Key and Papakolea, but I'll have to get there by boat. When it comes to beaches I'm all about the sand. Siesta Key's sugary beaches that stay cool sound divine! In the case of Papakolea, the beach is literally made of my birthstone! I mean, that's got to be a must-see for anyone!

That manmade lagoon in Chile is actually only 11.5 ft deep, not 115. Somewhere along the line someone forgot the decimal and the error got widely reprinted.

You should do top ten colors of sand on beaches. From black and pure white to all colors of the rainbow, there are beaches in all colors

A beach with sand coarse enough to have a recommendation to wear shoes that is CLOTHING OPTIONAL? Well, there is exfoliation...ouch.

Most of the Gulf of Mexico beaches have that same white, fine sand. The best.

I've been to Maho beach many times, but sadly it was mostly washed away or blown into the airport by hurricane Irma :(
Also, an honorary mention for a beach: Black Sand beach in Iceland. Black volcanic sand and striking black cliffs.

The beach at Varosha in Cyprus really should be on this list, where else can you swim and sunbath with an abandoned beach resort surrounding you watched by guards in machine gun nests. Most of the beach is off limits but there’s still a section open to the public of what was until 1974 a huge beach resort. You can see old cars in the streets, crumbling hotels, even an elevator that has crashed to the bottom of it shaft and burst through the crumbling walls, it’s very atmospheric but photographing it is illegal and you can have your camera confiscated if caught.

America, where picking glass off a beach is illegal..even though glass is a man made object that is extremely sharp when broken

I wouldn't suggest a dip at Boulders beach ... it's so cold my feet started cramping when I just walked in the water (probably why the penguins love that beach). If you want a dip in the Cape - find a warm water beach ...
