It must have been so awesome getting the data and looking in the exact location and actually finding it. Monumental feeling

All jokes and memes aside that honestly is one of the most goosebump inducing inspiring things I have heard of where people collectively did the SMART thing awesome moment in time.

I love the analogy in maths, that if you know 1 part of something you could calculate the other part as well

It would have been nice to state that the mathematician that made the «math» was Le Verrier, who sent the results to Herschel

Yes, the first one to calculate it was John Cough Adams in 1844 but the person that he showed didn't pay attention to it. Then Urban Le Verrier, 1877 did the exact calculation and... boom, Neptune

Things like this I think are the greatest endorsement of the scientific method. Being able to point to these examples where we see an unknown quantity but we're able to take the theories and information that we already have and use them to accurately predict what the answer to that unknown quantity is and then doing it just shows how great science can be.

I have to share this. This is common in physics where it turns out you don’t have the all the you calculators are correct, but you are missing something waiting to be discovered. The reason I want to share is because I found that this applies to life in general. Don’t draw a conclusion until you have all the facts. It’s saves a lot of heartache.
