I was lucky to meet Mr. Nesmith in the early 70's. He played at Ohio U.. It was just him and his 6 string. He asked if any one wanted to hear anything. Most people called out Monkees song. I wanted to hear his music. He started looking at me asking what I wanted to hear. After the show he invited me and my date back to his ready room. We drank a beer and talked for about an hour. I will never forget that evening.

I was honored to have seen him in person twice. And he was an inspiration not just to me but all of us. Go with God, Papa Nez.

Arguably the most talented of The Monkees. As an artist he never stopped stretching his boundaries.

I'm old enough that I remember The Monkees from Day One. They were a huge part of pop culture in the sixties, and anyone who was a kid back then loved them. Mike Nesmith was always my favorite.

There's a lyric from the Monkees' theme song, "We're the young generation." Now three of the four are gone. The passage of time. I would have to say that in Mr. Nesmith's case it seemed to have been a life well lived.

At 15 years old my neighbor was dating someone that worked on the Monkeys set. She was able to get us the Monkeys script. We were able to read along with the show. Unfortunately we had to give the script back. We were two 15 year olds in heaven! The best sing along songs ever!

RIP Michael Nesmith. With him, Davy Jones, and Peter Tork gone, that leaves micki dolenz as the last surviving monkee. All 3 are and will be missed. 😔⚰⚰⚰

Yep, proof that life doesn't last forever! Being in my 70's I'm reminded of this EVERY SINGLE DAY! RIP, Mike!

I have been a fan since I was 6 years old. The Monkee's music helped get me through a really difficult time growing up in a sometimes frightening household. I went to reunion concerts, Dolenz, Jones, Boyce & Hart and more. RIP Mike, Peter & Davy...hugs to Micky. Love em all.

Losing members of the monkees have always hit me hard. I remember watching the reruns and seeing how young and energetic they all were. Each time a member passes, it's a horrible reminder of our mortality.

We only have 1 survivor from gilligan's Island and now the monkees. Tragic

Man, this is heartbreaking. He was a prolific song writer, and a pretty good musician. Actually wrote “Different Drum” which was a big hit for Linda Ronstadt.

Thank you for honoring Michael! I had the pleasure of meeting all 4 Monkees at different concerts. Been a fan for 53 of my 55 years!

The Monkees were a truly unique band in that they spawned from a TV show to become a big hit. RIP Michael Nesmith.

During the Monkees's run on television they were probably the most successful recording act with the exception of the Beatles. It was a shame they were so underappreciated by the music industry.

His "closing argument" speech at the end of The Devil and Peter Tork episode was epic. Love is where it's at baby. RIP.

I was born in 1959, so The Monkees were a big part of my childhood. I use to love that show as a kid, and I'll never forget it. Thanks Dave for another great video, and RIP Mike. God bless you, and all the great music you gave us!

I will always remember one fact about Michael Nesmith's mother. Bette Nesmith Graham invented Liquid Paper! Rest In ☮️ to the both of them. We will shortly be missed by all the fans now and forever for sure in my mind!

This one hit me hard. I'm a BIG Monkees fan, and I just saw Nez and Micky in September on the Farewell Tour. So thankful I got to see him 4 times (twice with the Monkees and twice solo). The media in the '80s made it sound like he didn't want anything to do with the Monkees, but that wasn't true at all. He originally did commit to the 1986 reunion tour when it was just 20 or so dates over the summer. Then the MTV thing happened, the tour grew to well over 100 dates running through the end of the year, and Nez just couldn't take the time away from his Pacific Arts company to do it. We've lost a truly unique and brilliant man. Rest in peace, Michael Nesmith.
