Mike was my favorite Monkee and led me to start playing guitar as a very young boy. His death really saddened me, but I am thankful that Mike got to do the last tour with Micky and perform for a lot of grateful fans, while he was also able to tell the fans that he truly was grateful for them.Not a bad way to go out.

When I was turning six years old in 1967 I told my mother I wanted a Monkee album for my birthday. I did not have any of my own record albums at the time. We went to the store and I picked out “Headquarters”. My first album. Thanks Mom!

when i walked out of the greek theater on november 14th i was so happy (and sad) having just seen mike and micky's final show of the farewell tour. 26 days later i was crying my eyes out over the news of mike's passing. i was 5 when the tv show debuted and i always imagined they were my cool older brothers (even though i had 2 of my own). so it feels like losing a member of my family. thank you for 55 years of laughter and music, michael. rest in peace... you earned it.
