After the Temple Mount in Jerusalem this must be the most contested piece of real estate in the world. Fascinating film on a building that captures the history of conflict between cultures. If only the stones could speak. A worthy subject for your 100th upload. Bravo Maestro!

Thanks, Tony. The music was really excellent. I know that Brahms piece-the name was nagging at my brain. Strings are one of my favorite types of music-thanks for including them.

The music was performed by the Nieuw Amsterdam's Adagio Strings, a brilliant string quartet who every evening play beautifully to relatively little acclaim, so I thought I'd give them a mention on this, even though it doesn't really fit with the images. The first piece was Hungarian Dance No. 5 by Brahms, and the last one is called 'Feelings' by Morris Albert. I can't remember what the middle tune is called.

Actually not a Turkish delight, but a Greek delight. Built by Greeks including Greek architects and engineers before there was ever a Turkey.

Liked this video very much. Brings back memories of my trip to Turkey last year...but unfortunately, after I had downloaded my photos to my computer a month or so after I arrived, it crashed...and so I lost all my visual memories of Turkey 2012! Also just finished Dan Brown's INFERNO and about half of it takes place in Istanbul. I never went up to the 2nd floor of the Haga...but it features prominently in INFERNO. So thanks to you, I have also been able to visit it. 2nd piece is a ragtime.

In July 2012 entry to the Hagia Sophia cost 25 TL (under-12s free)

I missed this one somehow! The music in the beginning almost reminds me of Yiddish music, and somewhere towards the beginning of three minutes or so, has an almost ragtime feel. What is this music? It is very familiar to me. Also, besides the subject itself, it's nice to see so much of your family in this one. This is definitely a flashier piece of real estate;-), but I do think this wise woman prefers The Blue Mosque. Hard to really know. Beautiful job.
