Just a little correction. It's Kaby Lake, not "Kurby Lake"... Thanks for the comparison.

Great video! I just subbed.

Can't wait to get my 6800k. I'm just upgrading to that, the motherboard (since it's required from going from 1155 with an i5-3570k) and RAM (since it's also required for DDR4. For nearly the same price as a 7700k and only needing to spend about $100 more for a motherboard, you know what I'm gonna go for. :)

I do a lot of multi tasking in terms of programming, video editing, streaming, and gaming, so to be able to overclock that 6800k to at least 4.0 will definitely come in handy. Man, I just need $800. Also, for some reason, ever since upgrading from Win 7 to Win 10, the desktop manager program sucks balls and, for example, screensharing with Skype is absolute horsecrap and I need more power for it.

You can only expect the i7-6800K to overclock to 4.2GHz (4.0GHz to be safe). You got lucky with 4.5GHz.
What frequencies were the cores actually running at thanks to Turbo Boost? In one review, all the high-end Skylake and Kabylake chips ran all their cores at their maximum TB frequencies. Did you experience this? What did the i7-6800K run at?

i literally bought the 6700k the same day the 7700k came out

i refused to get a chip with all that DRM built in, and lack of legacy. (even though it was just $10 more)

Odd just looked on GeekBench
Processor Score single core
Intel Core i7-7700K
4.2 GHz (4 cores)
5714

Intel Core i7-6700K
4.0 GHz (4 cores)
5326

multi core
Intel Core i7-7700K
4.2 GHz (4 cores)
18316

Intel Core i7-6700K
4.0 GHz (4 cores)
17116

you sure your number are right?

I would have liked to see the complete performance numbers for both stock and overclocked. The evaluation seemed greatly lacking without more overclocked performance data.

There's something wrong with your Geekbench single core for the 6700k. Should be pulling 5k all day. Something was probably running in the background.

If the 7700k was a 6 core, I'd definitely upgrade.

Hello! Thank you for this video! I have a i7 4790 3.6Ghz, (i regret not buying the 4790K sorry) is it worth it to buy a new i7 7700K now? i mean, the speed and overall performance between my old i7 4790 and i7 7700K should be very big, right? Thank you.
