Excellent idea, and a simple implementation...

Might it be a good idea to have the arduino board on the outside of the trash can (behind the can?) and only the motor on the inside? Reason being that that way, there is no danger of some sticky stuff or wet stuff messing up the arduino!

Hi when I connected the everything the servo is giving weird noise and when its in open position during the delay time the sound is gone ! do you know what might be the cause ?
