If you’re looking for the best TV 2021 has to offer, the LG OLED C1 may be for you. Hyped up as one of the best OLED TVs on the market, we want to know — does it deliver? Is it the best TV of 2021? How does it stack up against the competition? All these questions and more will be answered in our LG C1 review.

In case you’re unaware, here’s a quick rundown of OLED technology: OLED, unlike regular LED, only gives power to the LEDs that will be displaying color. This basically means that you can have truer blacks with an OLED than with a regular LED TV — since the dark pixels literally don’t have power going to them, they’ll be, well, darker. This can help a great deal with contrast, allowing the colors that are displayed to pop more than they normally would.
The C1 OLED is a pretty strong television, and LG is really the place to be when it comes to OLED TVs. While the C1 isn’t exactly cheap, starting at $1,499 for a 48” screen, there are certainly more expensive OLED options out there. The C1 is also extremely thin at 1.85”, with small .35” borders around the screen. Despite this thinness, it’s still a sturdily built television. There’s also a new interface with the most up-to-date version of WebOS. It also has an improved processor compared to previous models, which give it better gradients — in other worlds, colors don’t “band” together as much. And while you’ll probably plug it in to whatever sound setup you currently have, the audio from the C1 is pretty high- quality. And of course, the image quality is top-notch, offering 4k HDR images.
The closest comparison is last year’s LG CX OLED. For the vast majority of specs, they remain the same. Both are OLED, of course, and both are 4k HDR. Both have 120 Hz displays, and the same build quality. They even have the same price, though the CX will likely go down in price soon.
Whether or not the C1 is right for you really does depend on a lot of things. However, it’s definitely LG’s Goldilocks option in this instance, at least as far as OLED TVs are concerned. We will caution you against buying an OLED if you watch a lot of similar content, though, as the screen burn can be a turn off for a lot of people. While we hope you aren’t using your TV for 6-8 hours a day doing one thing — for example, watching the news or playing video games — that’s definitely a way a lot of people live their lives. In those cases, parts of the screen that are static — like a news station logo or an in-game minimap — can burn into the screen, somewhat ruining the picture quality for everything else. Although, if you’re spending that much time with said game or the news, that may not be a concern for you, as it won’t be noticeable while that static image is on screen.

If you need a new TV right now, there’s no shame in being a few months behind the newest models. Most people don’t throw out their TVs every year, so don’t feel too bad about missing out on the newest model. Get whatever you’re comfortable with — the C1 is great, but doesn’t do a ton to stand out from its predecessors. As the saying goes, seeing is believing. We can’t really show you the difference in color quality between the CX and C1, as that will depend on the display of the device you’re viewing the video on. However, both TVs look great, and the C1 looks slightly better. Currently, the C1 is a great deal.

What did I just watch?
Recycled content, was any of the footage shot by you? Lifespan is not an issue with OLED...maybe it was 10 years ago, but there have been significant advances.
Sorry but you’ll need to do better if you want a following - tech savvy people are fickle, and this video does not stand up against competing channels for useful information on tech at this price point and buying audience.
