I'm just putting this comment here for English speakers.  I was thinking about how helpful cases are in Russian, & how they avoid confusion. At that time,  I was reading my bible in English and found this sentence that could be interpreted 2 different ways in English.  I had to rely greatly on context to understand which meaning was correct.  (Psalm 9:6) or (Псалтыр 9).Sentence:And you have destroyed cities.Meaning 1: destroyed is a verb  (You have done this action & destroyed cities).Meaning 2:  destroyed is an adjective describing cities. verb is have (and now you possess cities which have been destroyed, like a punishment for their past actions). In English, this exact sentence can mean 2 different things.I bet in Russian, a translation of this would be made very clear by the use of cases.

You are the best Russian teacher on Youtube bar none! Your cadence, tempo, temperment, attitude, teaching skills, the details, calm and strong voice. Better than my Russian beginning teacher at my community college.. even your English is better than hers.

I know the exact answer! Cases were specially created by something really evil to bring chaos and suffering to Russian learners :)

Best explanation for cases! Would be great if you could teach the endings for each case and compare them with other cases

Mom is an indirect object because You can replace the mom with a brother as the person who is receiving the ball and the rest of the sentence would still remain the same.
The same thing for the book you are reading. You can change the indirect object to someone else an the sentence remains the same.

do all the cases have different endings for the verbs and nouns to tell you which case is being used? doesn't that mean that each word has 6 possible endings, plus gender, plus speaker (i, you, we, they, ...etc.? so you have to memorize 36 different endings for each noun and verb? am i incorrect?

I heard that if you change the order of the words, the sentence might become sarcastic or have a different meaning or sound weird sometimes for example Много ты знаешь means you don't know anything sarcastic while ты много знаешь means you know a lot is it true ? but I think it also depends on intonation
