The Most Insane Ponzi Schemes In History

There's nothing like a good con story. Anyone who has moved to the big city can tell you how they were swindled out of a dollar on the subway, or how someone came knocking at their door with a suspicious-sounding sob story. And then there are the long cons, the con games that last for months - or even years. The amount of planning and risk involved in those types of schemes are extraordinary, and you have to be pretty charming and extremely smart to pull them off.

If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Words to live financially by.

I have always believed the Barclay's know what happened to Nicholas, possibly killed him themselves, and they accepted the imposter knowing it wasn't him, but it makes them look innocent.

Frank Abagnale's biggest scam was probably writing his biography.

I really dont feel bad for most of the people who got screwed with Madoff. The people being reported all say they couldnt believe the returns but kept investing due to greed. Just like the people trying to scam Gamestop and got caught with nothing.

The closest thing to home in my area was the late 70s "Pyramid"(schemes)! A couple of my teachers were talking about it in high school but I don't know if anyone got involved before it was debunked as a fraud!
