The Panathenaic stadium might have hosted the first modern Olympics in 1896 but it is much older. Its initial construction dates back to 330/329 BC.

Panathenaic Stadium is a historical stadium that does not allow you to use any kind of Pyro-show or drink/eat anything else beside water within it. So, as panathinaikos fans, we respect our history, we respect our club and greece. There were police that scanning for pyro-related items with dogs all arround. Imagine having 80.000 in OAKA outdoor next season what will happen. PAO Above All. ;)

I should probably correct you boys about something.

The last matches in the Kallimarmaro stadium did not happen in 1968. 1968 was the date the first European trophy came to Greece, as AEK won the Cup Winners Cup.

But it wasn't the last time. Kallimarmaro was used well into the early 80s.

With the last official matchup being a Greek Cup Semi Final match between AEK and Panathinaikos in 1982.

Cement floors and weather affecting the ball fell out of fashion when ΟΑΚΑ was built in 1995, and SEF in 1985.

The mistake you made was also made by our own sportscasters, who should probably know better.

And it's actually Kallimármaro. The intonation sound is in the letter "a".

its important to mention that olympiakos owners asked from the police not to allow Giannakopoulos to attend the venue due to the ban he has. They did allow him to honor his father memory and legacy. But what can you expect from a culture that played the game with posioned CSKA players back in day?

The stadium is an archaeological monument first of all that it needs protection from any damages and secondly but not less important, behind the back and the left side of the stadium there is a forrest... So any pyro it would be not only foolish but criminally irrensposible.
