Melting Copper Wire at Home - Making Copper Art Skulls
In this video, I'll be melting some scrap copper wire into some Copper RFT Skeletons and an RFT Copper Bar, using my Devil Forge Furnace or Foundry!
I am still an amateur when it comes to pouring and stamping as I only get a little practice every other week BUT I love trying my best and it's always a lot of fun.
I will also experiment with some different sanding, polishing and finishing techniques to try and create some cool copper art pieces.
Hopefully, you all enjoy this pour video!

🔴Warning - smelting copper or any metals is dangerous. Please be sure to take safety precautions and research the process before you ever attempt it.

I like seeing the colors change as it starts to cool down in the mold.

This makes the moon bar I purchased even better. Stamped RFT and seeing the pour. I've made my own forge, but will be getting a Devil Forge. (Big Stack D inspired), Plus I've been scrapping copper for 35-40 years. Love copper. My new paperweight. Thanks Rob

I like the pours! It's something I've gotten into over the past 6 months. I am working with sand to try to get unique pours. My nemesis is an American flag bar. I found a soap mold that I poured plaster into to make the shape in the sand. I have to mix a little aluminum into the copper to get it to pour smooth.

I really enjoy watching these kind of videos. I really like how the pink skull came out.

Thanks for making this video especially with the Texas heat being as bad as it is so early in the summer.

Pretty sweet hobby. Awesome look. I worked at a brass foundry pouring brass alloy slugs. Kinda fun👌

Those are some amazing pours. I wish I could have gotten some on the auction last night!

Love watching that. You make it look easy, though you were miserable in the heat. They turned out super cool!

You can't fool us, Rob, you meant to stamp that bar "CO"... 'cuz now you're gonna pour two more and stamp the second one "PP" and the last one "ER", and auction 'em off as a set of three.

I actually like them all! Variety is the spice of life. Nice work.

Rob, to bare the heat, you should get a pedestal fan. Not the cheap ones they sell today. The old ones that have a metal body. They're antiques but work great.

great video sir, for cleaning the skulls try some costic soda and hot water, let it soak for 20min or so, then rinse in cold water. this works very good for alloy aswell. doing this will leave a dull mat finish you can then polish after this process.
I will be making skulls out of alloy as i have a sh!t load of alloy plate.

Love this video especially on how it is different and shows how much attention to detail it takes to make these skulls and single bar.
