One thing is certain that with the players we had before ETH, a transitional approach was the right play-style to adopt. We can be close to Liverpool rather than Man City or Arsenal in terms of style. Transitional style can be win or bust. 3 things are absolutely crucial for it - physicality, elite decision making and being clinical (as the game is rapid). Our players lack all 3 aspects as of now.
For people saying ETH out, things have clearly improved from last season. And to those who feel our tactics were and are only "counter-attacks", you couldn't be more wrong. Idk why the notion is that possession based football is the only great style which everyone should adapt to. Let's be patient with our team. GGMU.

Big up Ste 💥

It's sad seeing the over the top/overblown overwhelming unavoidable herd mentality-esqe mass hatred 4 Rashy. You can't escape it that's why I rarely watch YouTube now because it's on every channel, every platform, all the same ish being regurgitated.

Rashy was beyond sh*t last season, this season hasn't even started but because they wanted him gone they lash out, loads of tantrums, wah wah wah, they single him out, they remember every mistake/error. Truthfully he was good/bad as Amad. He scored but it was offside, it happens, that's football.

Yes he wasn't good yday & hasn't scored yet but the way they talk about him is nasty/cruel, most haven't got a clue, some are young, some are r^c!st, there's so many different camps, most just repeat/regurgitate what they've read or heard others say, that's how this type of mass hatred/narrative is spread/created.

All of this doesn't help especially if he's staying as we need all hands on deck, so rather than crush his confidence, try a different approach, try be human, try being a fan, encourage him, be supportive, raise his confidence, make him feel wanted.

It's a sickness that many are infected with, a lot of people will feel every word speaking to them on a personal level. I always stand up for the players from the sheepish trolls, those who confuse critique with hate & those who disguise hate as critique.

No 1 speaks up 4 him when seeing this amount of lies/hate being spread on a daily basis but I always do. Such a disloyal, forgetful, ungrateful, spoilt, bratty, entitled, moany fanbase ♥️ Very rarely do people think for themselves x

Rashford masterclass in that game, showed why we pay him the big money!

Literally as effective as Salah.

The way he strolled about was Berbatov-esque, I loved it!

New 10 year contract needed imo

The style of play, link up play was impressive. Even though it ended as a loss, I can see improvements. Momentary concentration lapses costed us the game but overall it was a good game by united. Amad needs to get better at decision making and clinical.

Ste - you asked at what point does Mount go to the bench? He doesn't. Would like to see him on the left instead of Rashford and have Zirkzee start. Or if we magically go for someone like Toney, would like to see Zirkzee on the left instead of Rashford. We simply do not have the space for someone who won't press, can't beat his man, doesn't track back to get into defensive duels and cannot hold up the ball and bring people into the game. Unfortunately Rashford has been the physical embodiment of all of these for about 18 months now.

First thing we learned us that we had two month to buy Amrabat for peanuts and we did not do it. We started losing the midfield battle in the last 10 20 minutes because casemiro started declining physicaly, Mainoo himself is just back. We cannot expect that from a 19 year old.

Agree that Mount and Bruno play the same position. That’s not a bad thing. If Bruno gets injured, we’re toast. So far, we’ve been lucky.

Well done for staying optimistic but I’m only seeing basic improvements on the low benchmark of last season. We’re applauding good pressing as if it’s not a basic requirement. Brighton have a new manager with a patched up budget squad but fully deserved their win. Make it make sense?!?

I think that there is an issue with the way we play out. We play out from the left, and look to go behind from the right. Rashford, you want to play in running behind, and Amad links play and what we got the polar opposite. You might as well swap players around. It fundamentally didn't work, and it reduces the effectiveness of wingers when that happens.

Who knows about the permanence of the striker role, really? Though the tactical change of False 9s/a 9.5 is forced, it has it's use by choice eg the Cup Final. I have faith in Hojlund but it is good to recognise the value in a change of strategy. A result at Lpool - and, boy, are they due a UTD humbling - and the current approach might become more accepted as a norm. The Mount/Bruno/Zirkzee mix looks interesting. Variety has it's place.
Ugarte landing will be another element to stroke chins over, when considering the best 11s.
Maguire, gotta say, he does look better than 18months ago but it's hard to ditch early impressions. Tough to have full faith in his presence for a whole game. Maybe that's how ETH sees it too, but it might be a while for the Defence team to fully master the matrix. Mag was at fault for the first Brighton goal... (and off he went) though he was not there for the huge gaping back post hole for their second.
Btw Onana looks to be a man in form imho, but I can't help wondering why he did not Schmeichel out into the face of the header

Starting Rashford shows the club is Corrupt, probably worse than City

Appearence clause in his bumper 5 year contract

We've missed the most chances so far... And Rashford is yet to shoot. Interesting stats

So Rashford isn't a problem Ste?
He doesn't seem interested, there were times yesterday that his body language seemed as if he didn't want to be there. We can't have that kind of attitude on the pitch especially when we want to play with that much intensity. We need killers and Rashford is more like a victim.

Rashford should see if he can copywrite "Marcus Rashford was Offside!" so at least he'd get paid every time a commentator said it.

Tactical margins are so fine, players will have to tighten up. EtH has got MU on the right path. I’m expecting an improved and big performance next week. Good job Ste.

I've been expecting a challenging opening to the season. It's gonna take at least 4 or 5 more games for new players especially & the squad as a whole to start gelling. Once we start clicking I think we'll be alright this season, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Diallo took his goal well but thought he was poor, Rashford non existent AGAIN we need to improve in the wide areas not enough goals in this team to punish sides when we are on top.

Playing decent and shipping a few results to get used to new system is fine by me short term. But Maguire, Rashford etc need to be removed to bit part players and moved on asap

Why no-one talks about something The Athletic and Opta noticed? Man Utd allow the most counter attacks out of any team in Prem. That's shocking and good teams who can come out from under pressure, can have a field day.

The question after the match was how ten hag looked at the midfield and thought Bruno was the one to come off not Mainoo or casemiro who faded as evident from the continous pedro runs?
