In nearly every episode the steel is way too cold for hardening.
After the quenching you need another heat treatment by about 200-350 degree celsius.
Without the second heat treatment, its hard like glass.
You cant use it properly, it will break as fast as glass.

The problem is Saladin's sword need way more time in blacksmith studio to be created . Hard to figure out how to combine proccess of capture and compatable short period of creation .
The solution in my opinion might be revision of judgment, so the looking of weapon will actually mean a lot, not only durability and sharpness . So blacksmiths can change target from ability to cut bricks, to its design :) .
