Brandin Podziemski Told Anthony Slater
“A big focus for them was me shooting more 3s. I don’t know what I shot, but I shot a pretty good percentage. I just didn’t get up enough attempts.They want me to take anywhere (from) eight to 10 per game. That’s what they told me. All different types: off dribble handoffs, off ball screens, catch-and-shoot. I think I can get to that amount. The reason they said that is because I’d be watching film last season after every game, and it’s always on there: Missed 3-point opportunity that I didn’t take. There were a good two to four each game that I passed up. If you look at that, it’s a good five to seven per game I could’ve got up.”

“I really feel good about staying in front of my man. I feel more confident in my defensive ability. I’ve been in the position last year where sometimes you don’t feel comfortable, you hope to keep this guy in front. Where now it’s kind of like I expect to. That’s something going into training camp that I want to showcase.”

We will see if bradin podzemski can take that jump in the scoring production overall as a whole but it is a vital huge question mark at this point.🏀💯

Yeah I figured this is what would be asked of Podz. Big reason he was great last season was all the little extra effort things he did that had a huge impact. Taking charges, crashing the glass, flying around on defense, etc... he was able to use all that energy because he didn't need to necessarily save his legs to make big shots.

Now he's expected to maintain all that same defensive production AND ramp up his shots by more than double of what he's used to? 😂 And nights where he's like 2/9 on 3s, and is in a slump, he's going to be faced with the " This is who we kept instead of Markannen??" Type of comments....

Warriors don't have that legit 2nd scoring option, so, they might as well boost their defensive prowess. Podz, GP2, Melton, Wiggs, JK, SloMo, TJD and Dray are their best defenders especially SloMo, GP2 and Dray. But if they trade Moody and a 1st to the Jazz for Kessler, that would be awesome. Kessler is top 2 on blocks rating next to Wemby. Defense can sure win some games

I absolutely love Podziemski but not sure I’m ready to say that he’s a Klay Thompson replacement. Klay is one of the greatest pure shooters of all time in my opinion.

I really hope Podz isn't thinking of his volume of 3 point shots during a game, it doesn't work like that. He needs to focus on high percentage shots and playing smart basketball on both ends of the floor. It's still only his second year and he will make mistakes here and there but i think he'll have a good year. I still think it's a question mark if he starts, Kerr might start a vet over him. I'm hoping Podz can handle being a starter but i can see him starting sometimes or being a sixth man this year. It's still only his second year. Go Warriors!
