There was one of these in a studio years ago. Being aware of the Steve Marriott connection I tuned it to G, as you have here, and used it on one of our tracks. Great sound, no frills.

Steve Mariott's main guitar in early Humble Pie days. This thing is really a rocker when played through a Marshall

Man, I had one of those. It's a Sonny Shields special, Sonny Shields music store East Saint Louis, Illinois. 1964

That guitar appears to have flatwound strings on it, with a wound G - which is how it would have been supplied in 1961, but wouldn't have been the choice after the mid-60s for rock. They sound pretty dead - but I don't imagine they're the originals (?), unless this example had been in the case since about 1965. The combination of the relatively short sustain and the P90 clarity (and a touch of reverb) sounds pretty good for that Stones rhythm sound. Mark Agnesi knows his Stones.

Can't believe you didn't play it overdriven even for a a little while. Yeah, it's nice clean, but it does so much more.

I, now have a crush on that guitar.
You know why? Because that's the sound of my heart realizing that I will never play that guitar.
