In this clip: Chris Noth, Sarah Jessica Parker, Evan Handler, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon, David Eigenberg, Niall Cunningham, Willie Garson (1964-2021), Mario Cantone, Julie Halston, Sara Ramirez and Molly Price (1:01).

About this clip: The recently-widowed Carrie Preston partakes in the funeral of her husband John in the presence of friends, family and co-workers. After a small speech made by his brother, we witness a montage-tribute, blending seamlessly with an elegiac eulogy. There's Gloria, Big's secretary, all tremulous. There's Che Diaz who offers a handkerchief to Gloria. There's Bitsy von Muffling who lost her husband, Bobby Fine to Covid in 2020. And then there's Susan Sharon who in her unmistakable voice expresses her distaste for Big's treatment of Carrie. The past, the present and the future converge in the musical funeral before Big's cremation.

I know the funeral is supposed to be sad, but what really made me cry was seeing Willie Garson sitting next to Carrie knowing he's really not with us. Breaks my freaking heart

I can’t help but weep over Willie Gaston’s passing. They knew he was sick when this scene was filmed. 💔💔💔

Oh God poor Willie Garson. Knowing his funeral in real life wasn't far off and acting in this scene. I can't even imagine how hard that must of been. RIP Willie. 💔

This makes me extremely sad knowing that Willie Garson, knew he was fighting cancer in real life & didn't have much longer with us when they filmed this scene. SJP was the only one who knew he was so sick. You're at peace now, Willie & thank you for all the years of great acting even up until the end. We always will think of you😢💔

Susan Sharon’s “Am I the only one who remembers what a prick he was to her?” comment was the only thing in this scene I connected with. 😅

My husband soulmate of 24 years died 14 years ago. We later had a ceremony similar to this.
My nephew made a gorgeous montage of my husband’s life. I still watch it from time to time.
What a way to remember our loved ones.
14 years later I’m still a trainwreck.
It is only grief that doesn’t die.

Carrie was upset, but she was way more upset when he stood her up at the wedding. And I mean they focused on that story for an entire movie. Carrie was so convincingly depressed, but this show just rushed everything and we barely delved into Carrie’s emotions. She will never see him again, that’s heart wrenching.

Big was such a big part of the story, his story with Carrie is what we spent years watching, yet I feel so disconnected from his funeral, is it just me??? Like what on the earth? It was so weird, I’m a highly emotional person, I cried during so many of the sex and the city episodes and movies, yet this I just couldn’t shed even a tear? It didn’t show any of their relationship or bond at this funeral, none of their photos, Carrie didn’t even make a speech? She wrote one for Miranda?? I can’t, big deserved a better send off, how unforgettable and unemotional

Steven being so loving towards his son reminded me of my dad. He was always like that.

Wow, the reception from that tiny satellite dish on Carrie’s head was awesome.

I know it's just a TV show but I did cry. I think the choice of song was so beautiful for the ceremony and the reflections of the pictures throughout his years made it more touching . I did think about Willie looking at the casket and the whole scene thinking about his own personal health issues and if that could have been something he had to realize what's was going to happen to him .

1:10 THIS is what's sadder. Willie Garson passing not long after the first few episodes were shot.

It struck me as so very sad that they are saying goodbye to Big but don't know the sadness about to happen with Stanford leaving this world for real

Grief is displayed differently. Everyone one is judging Carrie. Obviously. She’s experiencing shock. She literally found him. There’s no right way to grieve.

I didn’t expect Big to die. Wow we went on that journey over 20 years ago when Carrie fell head over heels in love with him. I’m thankful we got to see them get married and happy. It’s sad he won’t be on the show any longer but death is part of life and I’m interested to see how Carrie moves forward without him. 😢😢

When she looks at Willie, it's so sad, cause that look encloses all the time she talked, complained cried, laughed with him about her relationship with Big, is like both were mourning him with the same pain, since they were so close and Willie, knew all the things she went through with Big, is like they are saying....Wow..here we are again... and also feels like a goodbye look between SJP and Willie. RIP 🙏 🕊

Dear God I know this is tv but I've been watching for years and they are real to me I am so sad that all this excitement about the new show wound up with me crying Big is gone and poor Stanford passed, Samantha is missing, I guess I had to vent ❣️
