So basically Let's Go improves on literally every single Kanto Gym Leader's Pokemon Team, except for Giovanni. I agree with you on all of them tbh.

I think that Giovanni using a Marowak on his team with people knowing about Team Rocket's high-profile killing of a Marowak would be a great way of reminding the audience of how evil Team Rocket is supposed to be and how disrespectful they are to pretty much everyone and everything.

I think I need to point out that Elesa's main gimmick was to spam volt switch so that you didn't really know which Emolga you were fighting and I think that was quite clever. As a kid, I used to consider Emolga as Elesa's ace honestly

I always forget Skarmory is a Johto pokemon, finding it on route 13 so much as a kid and Winnona using it has it permanently ingrained in my brain as a Hoenn pokemon

Watson having Plusle and Minun would actually be counter-productive from a design standpoint as their abilities, plus and minus respectively, were meant to show synergies that could occur in the at-the-time new double battle system.
Unless Watson had a battle partner, Plusle and Minun would have muddied the synergy concept by appearing in singles format from a gym leader.

I honestly wish that they would branch out from just having gyms specialized around types. I like what you mentioned in another video about a hypothetical situation where someone was a honey tree specialist. Imagine a gym leader who in pokemon available at night. Or a Dog Breeder specialist who has different dog Pokemon. A gym that is part science lab that studies dreams and has sleep/dream related pokemon. Maybe only have a few like this per generation so most of the game is still more traditional.
