just saw these guys at house of blues myrtle beach. being 19. my dad grew me up on this music. one of the best live shows i have ever seen in my entire life. so lucky to have seen such an amazing band up close and personal

While this song wasn't my gateway into Testament, The Ritual was, in fact, my first album of theirs. While others find it soft and commercial (and listening to their other work, its hard not to agree) I love the album from front to back, and find it among their best accomplishments. I think its principally because Testament proved with The Ritual that they didn't need to be that breakneck thrash band to really cause emotion or reaction. The songs are all well executed, even if they at times feel a little more simplistic. Musically, they make a more commercial-sounded album feel WAY more relevant than other, more well-documented supposed "sell-out" albums.

Speaking of the song...brings tears. That's all that needs said. Its perfect. Maybe the best song they've ever constructed...which is a heavy claim, because their discography has very few (if any) holes...but something about this song...it makes me feel both regret and hope at the same time. Its impossible to describe, all that can be really said is, Testament, thank you for this gift.
