The Footballer Who Successfully Finessed FC Barcelona

It wasn’t so long ago that FC Barcelona used to strike fear into the hearts of the opposition everywhere. But now, the club itself has been struggling heavily not only on the pitch, but also on the financial side – with nearly 1.5 billion Euros in debt, the most of any major club in the world.

Sure, there are many factors - but if there was really one butterfly effect trigger event that you could point to that did the most damage - it would be the signing of Philippe Coutinho.

It might sound crazy, but had he never gone there, today we could potentially have Messi still at Barca, Mbappe already at Real Madrid, and even Haaland possibly staying in Bundesliga. If you watch this video, I promise it might very well make sense.

While it’s not personally Coutinho’s fault, his transfer was the main trigger that made everything accelerate downhill even further.

Barca would spend 27% of their total debt on one player who they would waste, quickly loan out, then eliminate them in their worst loss ever, causing more frustration and unwise spending.

(We all know Barca’s poor management decisions are the real reason)

Barca ended Barca. Liverpool are grateful though, we would have never signed Van Dijk and Alisson 😂

He wasn't the problem the problem was that barcelona bought 2 unnecessary players who play the same position as messi, Bartomeu is the one to blame

Another butterfly effect that this caused was liverpool cashing in to sign van dijk and alisson from the fee of coutinho making liverpool more competitive and complete which eventually led them to the elusive premier league and the champions league

I remember how good he was at Bayern Munich. But here is the trick: Coutinho's magic only happens when the jersey is red.

Coutinho at Barca : I am too weak.
Coutinho outside Barca : Unlimited Power!!!!

This was a trigger event for sure. But the seeds on the collapse were sown with the wages Barcelona gave to players that were unsustainable on the long term. Id argue also giving Messi an albatross of a contract with a new extention each season after 2015 was a contributing factor. After that the inability to transition from an aging core of fantastic players just deepend the problem.

Saying Couthinio is responsible for Barcelona's downfall is probably the stupeidest thing I have ever heard. It is not his fault that the management was sepnding money recklessly and with no real idea in mind.

It was a combination of Coutinho (To compensate for Neymar leaving) and Dembele (They believed he was another Mbappe) that ruined Barcelona

At EPL having 20 goals in a season is God level...
While at La Liga, Messi and CR7 were pumping in 40 goals regularly. Someone worth 150 mil giving them 18 goals is just not appealing at all..😅

Coutinho said his dream was to play for Barca...

And that's how you can learn that sometimes following your dreams is not good.

well i would say the reason is Lionel Messi....before abusing me and my family read what im tryna say
barca used to play like a team up until 16/17...team didnt play FOR lionel Messi...yes team might be built around messi but team didnt play for him....everyone played their game helped the team....after the departure of neymar and after Iniesta started declining.. things massively changed...whoever watched 17/18 season knew coutinho played extremely well... almost justified his price tag.... he played in his natural position.... but after that everything changed... team started to play for Messi
messy played as rw, cm, cam, rm in the team and the respective players in those positions sacrificed their positions for him as they have to... didn't play their game... pass to Messi... that's it...messsi isn't the one to be blamed... managers were utterly clueless and incapable of managing a club like Barca... they didn't have their ideas and simply relied on Messi to carry them giving him all the positional freedom he wants at the cost of others.... any football team that solely plays FOR one player is a recipe for disaster...u can build rhe teaM around a player like Madrid did with Ronaldo... that's why they are still winning... Barca without anything just crumbled cuz no players have the habit of holding responsibility

That Neymar signing fee changed football, it was his transfer that led Barcelona to sign Coutinho for an absurd amount which then led to Liverpool buying all there current star players

It was crazy PC's fall and how poorly he was mismanaged... As a Madrid Fan I especially relished the 8-2 annihilation where he had a brace against his parent tesm lmao... Like how did barca loan him without a clause to not play against them in the UCL...
Its just crazy because there were a few years in a row where PC was a top attacking midfielder ...
But we all make our blunders and mismanagements... Madrid bringing in Hazard and the mismanagement of James and Isco come to mind

😮 So many possibilities if Coutinho never got signed by Barca

Buying expensive players only as spare parts. That's how educated Barcelona is.

Coutiho is not the only problem, Dembele and Greizman are also why Barcelona are in financial crisis
