5 Things I hate about my Jeep Patriot Rental Car

While no one likes to bring their car in for warranty work, one of the perks is to drive a care nicer than the one you brought in. We this time, I drove a Patriot. I already didn't care for them but had to live with one... This is what I found.

Mine is a 2016 model and I only paid 20k. Something I loved about it is the small things I could do to upgrade it and it be DIY. I have lights in the speaker covers, floor board and also in the little cubby above the glove box. I also just upgraded the radio to a jvc touch screen and that alone made a world of difference. These cars are simple to mod and can be fun.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

i have a 2015 jeep patriot and i love it to death. the only issue is they’re annoying when filling up gas, but they’re amazing for travel and i wouldn’t change it for any other jeep.

Patriot - designed by jeep. Renegade. Designed by FCA. Big difference in eras. And when they knew the patriot would die 3 years before the production finished I’m sure they just didn’t bother with updates. I think you have some odd priorities bud. Jeeps were know for simplicity and function... before the urban commandos took over.

I owned a 2015 Patriot and put 130, 000 very hard miles on it and never had a single problem. Sure it's dated but was super dependable and got us through some crazy snow storms and terrain that was well beyond it's designed use. Was probably the best vehicle I have ever owned. Just bought a Renegade a few days ago and sincerely doubt I'll have the same result. (But am sure hoping I do).

I actually just purchased a Patriot 2 weeks ago.  2015 with 28, 000 miles.  Same High Altitude package.  The things you are using as a detraction, I view mostly as positives.  I don't want a complicated digital cluster.  I actually LIKE the very basic display.  And that radio is the same one used in the high end Grand Cherokee.  That's Chrysler, not even remotely specific to the Patriot.  I like the plastic dash.  Its easy to keep clean and looks nice when dressed up.I happen to be 6'0", and my knees don't touch the base of the steering column whatsoever.  Im not sure if you have short arms maybe?  But at 6'0", I can fit comfortably in the front seat, with an adult seating comfortably behind me.  My daughter is 5'7" and seats behind me fine, with no complaints.  The compass is basically the same chassis and wheelbase.  Just a slightly different appearance.  Same price.I do agree with the seats.  Manual lumbar.  Only power forward/back/up/down, with manual angle, and manual passenger seat.  Would have been nice to just have full power seats, but hey...its a Patriot, not a Grand Cherokee. The Sunroof is great.  My head fits right inside the opening if I choose to sit up high. And the big difference is...I paid $15, 000 for mine.  Dark Cherry Metallic with the black chrome wheels.  I absolutely love it.  It gets me 24mpg (small tank though) and I feel very comfortable and safe in it.  When the back seats are folded down, theres plenty of storage space in it.  I don't actually believe anyone is paying over $30 for a Patriot though. That may be the sticker price, but look at TrueCar, and I see people getting them for $26 with all those options.  Its a nice, comfortable, reliable vehicle.  Im installing a Pioneer stereo with Apple CarPlay and OBD connection that gives me tire pressures, fuel economy, check engine status, and all the bells and whistles.  That was $300.  So for $15, 300, I am extremely happy with my Patriot purchase.

On the other hand, the Renegade to me felt tiny.  Like a tall Go Kart or something.  But, to each their own.  Drive what you like...and I like my Patriot a ton!

Do you guys recommend me buying one? They look nice and simple, just how I like it without complex technology breaking all the time

Very picky, what does tapping plastic even mean? My 2014 Patriot is my 2nd Jeep. I love how there's not too many bells and whistles = less things to break of distract while driving. The one thing I do have a problem with is the antifreeze, it's still orange. My last jeep overheated and cracked the engine because green was put in and it gelled. Plus the orange is a bit more expensive....

Number 2 seems really nitpicky. I'm the same height, and when my seat is positioned where my arms are holding the steering wheel normally (and not in the douche position), my knees don't hit the steering column. Just stop pulling your legs together like you're trying to keep a tampon in.

Literally all he’s complaining about is materialistic things. It’s still very reliable

Eh, every complaint is essentially aesthetic, no mention of the performance advantages of the Patriot though. Nearly every single thing you complained about can be altered via aftermarket parts if one were so inclined. It's ok I understand your bias.
